Hello. I need help. Lenovo Netbook (it has 2 GB RAM only, now running Win10) Please help mod bios for Netbook without whitelist (to install Win 7. I tried so far no success. Its table is MSDM) Many thanks, -Model : Lenovo IdeaPad S120-11IAP -Bios Version: 6GCN32WW -Bios Revision : v2.01 -Bios Type : ACPI2.0 -Bios MSDM : Lenovo
@siliconbeaver There is no whitelist for OS installation. Your system firmware supports booting UEFI OS/application only because you have UEFI Boot Mode, Secure Boot enabled in your BIOS. I can tell you how to turn them off.
Here are my two Lenovo situations both are running Windows 11 (MAS, what I learned from MDL). I hoped to run some old macros on Win 7. But so far Win 7 install failed on both Lenovo. machine simply wouldn't take Win 7 install. my last try was to image restore a desktop Win7 OS on the Lenovo. while Lenovo still refused to boot/run. I was thinking modbios could help. looks NOT so easy. and I know little on modbios (hence cannot try much) Which one will be easier to get Windows 7 installed? Yoga or Ideapad? Thanks,
Yoga. It's running on Insyde BIOS type, for which there are more approaches for modification. It has a better chance of success.
I did try your tool dated 05/04. unzipped the file. followed the guide and clicked START.bat. it pop-up options. I selected "CSM enable", then on-screen message "now parsing variable information. " yoga freezing up here. I waited for about an hr, the screen no any update. then I had to manually power-down Yoga, re-start. I see on-screen message --- updating your system (0% to 100%, that was promising to me) when done, I reboot and went bios. No "CSM". Still "UEFI" only. so no way to boot USB (obviously USB boot needs CSM mode) I performed twice. same result. No "CSM" in bios. Am I missing anything?
If I run option of MOD BIOS error: Error 201: [FPTw.exe] cannot be run on the current platform. my present OS is Win 11 btw, I did search, Yoga 2 11 biod mod requests SPI programmer (hardware) which I don't have.
This is unnatural behavior. It looks like the process failed, but it couldn't have interrputed at the very beginning. Please tell me if any text file appeared in the working directory? This will help to understand at what point there is an error.
If run option of "CSM" enable. no error info. Just freezing-up. If run option of "MOD BIOS". error: Error 201: [FPTw.exe] cannot be run on the current platform.
Yeah, the first option "Enable CSM" was programmed not only to enable the CSM but also to disable the "BIOS Lock" preventing BIOS modification, so for now I'll focus on that. Please check the "FLASH_DOS_BOOT" folder for any file with .log extension. I need to know its content as it's logging events occuring to the program.
Error 201: [FPTw.exe] cannot be run on the current platform. This info was from *.log file within FLASH_DOS_BOOT" folder. I did verify any files with today time-stamp. and That's only one. Other files are with time-stamp 04/30 or early.
