Thanks for the swift response and for the BIOS, kumeipark! This one produced the strangest result, one I certainly didn't expect. You inserted a CB-01 SLIC, and after flashing I got yet another PubKey mismatch, only this time PubKey is CB-2M! I don't suppose it even exists. At the same time, it suggests something is overwriting that part of the PubKey, keeping the 2M part from the original BIOS. Or maybe it's something related to the flashing mode? By the way, regarding the flashing tool: both PHLASH16 and the included Winphlash produced the same results.
I am neither a BIOS mod wizard, nor a Windows Activation Expert. However, it is to my understanding that almost all Thinkpad BIOS mods for the purposes of Windows 7 activation rely on a combination where the corresponding cert from Vista is used to activate Windows 7. The two questions that pop into my mind are: 1. Considering that Microsoft is rolling out WAT and seems to be serious about improving its capabilities, is it not just a question of time until WAT will detect systems where Vista certs have been used to activate Windows 7. 2. If it is "safer" (from an anti-WAT perspective in Windows 7) to do BIOS mods that rely on Lenovo Windows 7 certs, instead of Vista certs, why are almost all Lenovo mods done with the corresponding Vista cert? Just curious...
Error -155 when flashing Thinkpad T40 Hi, i just tried to flash my T40 (Mod 2374-DG1) using the modded bios kindly provided by TTAV134 (taken from the 2nd page). Unfortunately I am getting an Error -151, Bios Update failed, the current device is not supported in the interface. Does anybody know what that means? I already have checked for any HD or BIOS passwords. The original Bios 1RETDRWW (3.23) is running without Problems on my machine. Version 3.21 before also refused to flash. Further on I tried several Winphlash versions (1.6.x - 1.7.16x) Thanks in advance & best wishes, pw
