There are portableapps.com apps as well. They keep them updated and have a app launcher, apps can be added to taskbar as well, and to start menu. Can be set as default and all.
Ah, these portables are for my personal use, and to share with my friends, or whoever wants to be, and they are in my personal/private folder/server (it is not a website, blog, or commercial, etc.). ¡Enjoy!
The point of Portable software is that it does not have to be installed at all, and is transPortable.
I may have said it wrong. I actually wanted to talk about the .paf format. because it takes almost the same time to extract some .paf and .zip files and install the .msix format. Also, to reiterate, the .msix format leaves no garbage when removed.
But MSIX has to be installed first and removed after. If the removal fails, the installation will be left which is undesired. Additionally, I'm pretty sure that MSIX will only run on the latest Windows OS, while PAF can operate even under XP or earlier.
All Windows powerusers should download the sysinternals suite over at microsoft. TONS of great utilities, incl. procmon and procexplorer
