List of "Things to Do" Immediately After a Windows 10 My very personal answer : Wait for the october Wave 2. Actually, I can't ^^ But that's what I suggested to my family and friends.
One quick question. How did you solve the unavailable uninstall option on certain apps like Groove Music, Maps etc
gpedit.msc Conputer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Search Enable "Do not allow web search" "Don't search the web or display web results in search" "Don't search the web or display web results in search over metered connections" Stops windows searching bing every time you type something in start
Install TinyWall (tinywall.pados.hu) In TinyWall General Allow Firefox Allow Putty Special Exceptions Uncheck Windows Update Uncheck Windows Network Discovery
Nice. I guess I can do the same and if I have activated with the loader. Have you found any way to get rid of all the apps?
Which apps do you want removed? BTW, there are several levels of removal. Also, if you look at my script, it removes most of those built-in apps using DISM (at the end of the script). I didn't remove all the apps, as some are rather useful.
Like News, Groove music, People etc. I tried removing them with the remove-appxpackage from powershell but the folder and files remain. dism is giving me error...
Small point in doing Windows Update at the end of everything else; Windows Update can and does reset a hell of a lot of tweaks and alterations (eg. removing the folders from My Computer view), and can force drivers over those you have chosen yourself. You may find doing so at a different point to be more useful to avoid having to repeat a lot of tweaking work.
Complete removal would include: 1. Official removal of the app(s) with DISM. for example: Code: dism /online /Remove-ProvisionedAppxPackage /PackageName:Microsoft.BingNews_10004.3.193.0_neutral_~_8wekyb3d8bbwe 2. Disabling related scheduled tasks. 3. Disabling related Services. 4. Manually deleting all related folders & files. 5. Manually deleting all related registry keys. This is risky, as it can break other stuff you might actually want. XAML-based apps, such as Edge, Cortana, the Settings app, the new Calc, Windows Update, etc. - might not work properly after all those tweaks. There is also a service and a scheduled task which are responsible for checking file integrity, and those may try to undo your tweaks. Windows Update also might bring back some stuff you might have removed. Exciting times...NOT!!
Where can I find a list of GPEDIT.MSC changes to perform after installation? Someone posted screenshots of that in some thread that I can't find right now...
