Umm, you realise the there is more 'metro' in 10 than there is in 8.x ? What you think the new start menu is made from? The taskbar, the volume, network etc system tray popups, the new dark right click context menus, the new settings panel, EDGE, and of course all the apps and the store...
everything you just mentioned besides the settings and edge are xaml apps, xaml/wpf has existed since 2006 basically so there is literally nothing new about it. its just that its now all flat styled. but office 2007 for example was already made with this system. "metro" is nothing more then the flat style microsoft uses.
Not sure if sarcastic.... Windows 10 is still a buggy and incomplete piece of s**t, how they are trying to force it on basically every modern machine with W7/W8 on the market, let alone release it out of beta in the first place, is just mindblowing. IMO Windows 10 is even worse than Windows 8 in terms of usability - at least with the latter, you could basically avoid the "Metro" part of the UI if you knew where to click. Windows 10 has a half-assed "Metro" Settings "app" and a half decomposed Control Panel in a lame attempt to get everyone to switch over to app-style windows. Love how they market a semi complete product as "the last Windows ever, from here on it will be always improving and evolving". They are also GREAT at prioritizing changes. Like that god damn new Windows 10 Start menu left column has been stuck with 6 Recent programs (regardless of how tall you resize Start) since f**king forever... meanwhile they still have time to insert their lovely telemetry and spyware into the system.
"Automatically", sure, so why do you still need to start the installation, agree to the user terms, etc? That's not automatically. It will now ASK automatically if you want to update. Nothing more.
Hate Win 10 Use classic shell If you have an older computer Win 10 will slow it down I have a dual core laptop that was quite snappy with Win7 I did a clean install of Win 10 it was much slower went back to Win 7 the last real OS
You can disable OS upgrade : Code: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate] "DisableOSUpgrade"=dword:00000001 and disable GWX : Code: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\GWX] "DisableGWX"=dword:00000001
Its all well and good until people need to upgrade to a new PC/Laptop. Many people will find that PC/Laptop manufacturers will only offer drivers for Windows 10 and no other operating systems. I found this out when I recently got a new laptop pre-installed with Windows 10 Home. I thought no problems, I'll use my Windows 8 thumb drive. Went to laptop manufactures support page and clicked the "Choose OS" drop down tab, only to find Windows 10 - that's it! I'm sure there will be those who'll hold off upgrading to Windows 10 for as long as possible, but eventually if you use Windows, it WILL be Windows 10 whether you like it or not.
What this does, most people here know how to stop this but for the average person, man what a mess, this is like a dictatorship, people go to bed, get up, stretch, turn on there porn savior, My God, what happens when they start charging for this forced OS, wake up in debt, bankruptcy, lol, shame on MS for not letting people do as they wish without having this mess rammed down their throats.
They are usually set via Group Policy. You can apply the keys if the Edition you use has no functional Group Policy Editor.
I think I will go with using the Group Policy Editor to disable those features rather than applying the registry keys. The keys can easily disable the audio of the system.
I can understand holding off laptop upgrades since they are very hardware specific with drivers and always end up crippled but on desktop, non-OEM (custom built) EMBRACE it is very goooood!
Whats Good?.... I can tell you I have had and its still ongoing numerous jobs imaging W10 then installing 8.1 or 7 on these new machines. Its a financial boom.... thanks MS !
As of now, there is no silent/quiet install of 10 happening. User still has to click through the setup screens. If they turn on their machine, worst case, that's what comes up. They cancel out, reboot, and go back to their [old] desktop. (At least I think that's what happens...I don't think it reboots back in to the setup, with no way to back out.) That's not excusing anything here; the fact that people have to do more than click "I don't want this, leave me alone" more than once is ridiculous.
