this is why I like the computer built from parts by myself and when possible desktop, i can check how each manufacturer behaves before buying, as far as now is possible, they may do more things like intel's new upcoming processors not working with windows 7/8 since they don't develop the required updates
Just wait until that new and awesome game that everyone must have is released and it will only run on a Skylake processor ... Intel and others have already jumped on the Windows 10 only band wagon, maybe Nvidia/AMD will join the Windows 10 party too? I wouldn't be surprised to see a future where Windows 10 is required at the BIOS level ... That should ruffle some feathers.
I'm totally happy w/ Windows 10 x86 Pro on my main rig, main OS. I had Win7 x86 (Ultimate) previously & it was getting slow, starting-up, shutting-down, opening apps, etc so I let WU update it to Windows 10 (wiping & reinstalling everything in Win7 is a HUGE PAIN) After done I cleaned-up the Windows.old & other the unneeded crap. I did make a Win7 BU on my WHS 2011 rig just in case I am happy w/ the speed & being able to get my apps working, incl. my 16-bit journal app. in Windows 10. Think I'll keep it
Windows 7 is ancient history to me. The last time I installed it on another's machine, so I could do a legit upgrade to 10, it was a horrible PITA! Updates took forever, and the indicators for them show 0% until it is almost done. Believe me I loved it back in the day.
What the story is it now? As soon as you have installed Windows 10, you can get a new key here, though, anyone will not send it to you, but it exists on your computer and as well as it is stored on your Microsoft account. You can find it any time from your computer, if You want, but anybody not needed it never. And after all, always if you install Windows, it is activated automatically during installation. If the main window opens first time, is already activated. In addition, there is not needed any serial key during installation or before it begins. You still have fantastic information source.
Just do a PC Reset through Recovery & choose to remove your files. OS will be as new WITH updates AND still activated...
I don't think any game would require a specific CPU architecture to run, given that nowdays most games require more a powerful GPU than a good CPU, more likely, it will be a DirectX 12 only game.
...You pay to have system... but can use only, and has not rights over it,then M$ can take away from you when she wants or wish...
There are alternatives to Windows. The only thing I use Windows for is gaming, but everything else I do wirth Linux. I don't care if Microsoft sees what games I'm playing, but "everything" else I can decide by myself.
If you don't have the GWX update installed (KB3035583), Windows 10 isn't offered either. Not as optional, not as recommended either. Just saying.
And if you opt out of receiving recommended updates altogether (the only sensible thing to do, IMO) you won't even have to worry about GWX. Just saying.
I disagree, because there aren't hundreds of useful updates in that category; regardless of whether you opt out, you're still going to receive all updates classified as "important", "security", or "critical". Anything else I'd rather install manually from the list of available updates based on whether I consider it useful or not.
Sorry for to tell: I didn't like that Forbes Site because of it's pressure for to disable the Ad Blocker to be able to reach their sites content! In reality, that's exactly (or even worse) what Microsoft is doing for to push users to Windows 10! The Fact is, I'll not disable the Ad Blocker for any Forbes site because of bad experiences doing just that in the past with their site: twice nasty infections and also placing adware on my machine.
