I' re recently had by the hands a Fujitsu Windows 2008 R2 DVD. Trying to install on a vsphere 4 virtual machine I got this error: "this installer is designed to load only in virtual environments supported by Fujitsu and/or the virtual machine provieder" and the installation stops. I've tryed using a modded bios with fujitsu slic (succesfully tested with Windows 7 in the same virtual environment) but had the same issue: 2008 stops installing. I've read about asset tag, but I'm not sure this is the case. Anyone have an idea how to bypass this oem-bios-locked DVD or how to remove this check from DVD? I'm curios to know how it is implemented into dvd media... Thank you.
Add following line to .vmx file in datastore / VM directory: smbios.addHostVendor = "TRUE" (you have to download the .vmx file and use some editor - e.g. Wordpad)
