Hello, I'm currently looking for a modded BIOS for the Thinkpad X60 with a wifi whitelist. Main reason being that the stock wifi card gets really hot under the palm rest which makes it uncomfortable to use, so I want to replace it with something newer. After doing a bit of looking around I've been lead to this forum as it seems like a trustworthy BIOS file for it originated from here. But I was unable to find it due to all the download links to it being dead and the original threads having vanished entirely. I'm aware of the existence of the Libreboot project and that it works really well with the X60 specifically but I would prefer to be able to run both Windows and Linux on the laptop. Any help regarding this would be extremely appreciated! Just in case this is relevant, here are the specs of my X60: CPU: C2D T7200 RAM: 4GB Storage: SSD with Win7 installed Product ID: 1706-GKJ
Didn't find a pre-modded bios for this model. Please try to backup your actual bios and attach or host it somewhere.
Can you please guide me through the process of dumping my BIOS? I wasn't able to find any guide and the WinPlash utility that ships with Lenovo's BIOS update program (7buj28us.exe) won't let me backup my BIOS unless I have a backup of my BIOS already(?). I've got no clue how to go about it...
Try asking on something like thinkpad-forum.de (fair warning though the 'tists there got a massive stick up their ass, more so than thinkpads.com)
