I have no comments about the advisability of upgrading BIOS so as to support IVB-E. I have a i7-3930k which is SNB-E. I have no intention of buying IVB-E. Asus has however updated their X79 BIOS to support IVB-E. However, I have found that some of their recent BIOS updates have not been so great. On p9x79 deluxe, I had updated to 4302 (Sep 2013, supporting IVB-E) but a few days back downgraded to 3501 (Mar 2013) through ASUS BIOS Flashback. Gigabyte must also have this feature especially on a mid-to high range MB like UD5.

ASUS BIOS updates have however no problems in stability for me. It is just that for some reason I preferred a downgrade.
