Thanks for your OEM slp keys but what should I do to install them and make the series look like this, "XXXXX-OEM-XXXXXXX-XXXXX"?
I use one of those keys you post on page 3 but they don't work when Windows XP MCE is installing.
    What should I do?

Also, I installed MCE 2005 with the first disk (CD1) in VM only.
So what should I do with CD2? I see there are 3 I386 folders

If it didnt ask for the second disk, you likely do not have MCE, only XP Pro..

    It is serial dependent..

I have downloaded the XP MCE from this thread and checked and the hash is correct. Now do I burn the 2 CD's and use them to do the install of XP MCE? Thanks

I was just making sure, as I'm new to this whole thing. Now for my next question, I have 2 XP MEC keys. One is from Toshiba that came with my Qosmio laptop. I want to use the copy XP MEC, that I got here, to reload so I don't have to usr the DVD that has all thier crapware that came on it. The other key is from a Gateway that smoked. Can I use the key that came with it to install XP MEC on another computer? Thanks!

    Tito,
Thanks for all your help! I have a question. Now I'm running a dual boot on my Toshiba Qosmio G15 (it has 2 hard drives) XP MCE 2005 - Toshiba OEM and Windows 7 Ultimate - downloaded from this forum with a activator, no problems. As I said before, I want to reload XP MCE 2005 and not use Toshiba's DVD because of all of the crapware on it. If I mod my BIOS with the HP info will that cause problems with my dual boot. Thanks again!!

You don't even need to mod your bios just use the DMI boot CD in the XP stickies.

Use the correct Toshiba OEMBIOS files and serial..Toshiba shipped MCE as OEM..No need to mess with bios. Use the OEMBIOS.EXE to verify which OEMBIOS. The serials are in the changer..

Hi I found your forum searching for an answer to a similar question as above. I go over to my uncle's to fix his HP, basically the hard drive is toast and a PC recovery yields the same issues so I buy a new one and install it. He had made PC Recovery disks when he first bought the computer but disk #2 is also toast. I have my trusty 9 in 1 XP DVD with me so I put it in and install media center 2005. Oops. It won't take the product key on the side of the computer, because this is likely a retail version of 2005, and he likely had OEM from HP/Best Buy.

So it works perfectly, but activation runs out in 60 days! Question: Can a installed retail copy of media center 2005 (updated to sp3) be converted to OEM to be able to activate it? I'm pretty sure it's the retail version, if you search google for 'xp media center 2005 product key', the one that comes up in the results is the one I have on his computer - according to the tool I got from ga.micro$oft.com.

Thank you for any help or ideas!!

Use the OEMBIOS.exe included in the tool to see the CRC available for activation. I am sure the ones I posted will be the ticket..
