I downloaded the mce dvd from a link here and although it says th MRMPFPP_EN.iso fils is 858,624KB, there is only 5 files inside it; install.exe instmsi.exe instmsiw.exe netfx.msi netfx1.cab The files add up to 23Mb It seems to be .net framework 1.1 have i just installed a virus or something? is this correct?
Did the D/L finish? It is a torrent. I will check it out, if it is mine, it is a DVD ISO and must be burned and installed...I do not know how you would install on top of windows? You install fresh on a HD. How did you "install" it...
Yes it downloaded, i tried it twice, when i extract the iso or browse it with 7-zip i get what i said before. Thanks
when did you download yours? Did you look inside the iso, is it the same as what i got? Maybe third time lucky?? I have not tried burning it yet, i just looked inside. I am thinking that if its only 23mb how can it be 800mb on dvd?
stop downloading, it is ok. just burned the iso and it looks normal. Sorry Can someone explain why when looking in the iso using 7-zip it doesnt show what is actually in the iso? I wanted to modify the setupp.ini file to oem to match my modded bois
Has something to do with the UDF DVD format..I use the powerISO for all iso manipulation. Winrar and 7zip do not see it properly. You can extract the files but will have a boot image also...I do not know the specifics. Comes down to having the right tool for job... Very seldom is there a true "all in one" tool....
There isnt one that I am aware of. Magic ISO, Power ISO, and ultra ISO can be had very cheap...VERY cheap if you are industrious..... There are some free programs with viewing capabilities and burning capabilities...none that I have seen will modify an ISO..Maybe if you find a freeware version of ISOBuster...beware that one though...
why... lol Thanks for educating me on this, that explains some of my previous iso downloads not looking correct, I have learnt to now burn first then check. silly 7-zip, saying it can read iso's and not being able to read them all
This has been my experience so far. Obtained CD1 from post #61 and CD2 from post #32. Was immediately halted at entering Product Key stage during CD1 installing. The certificate of authenticity sticker key wasn't recognised, and trying key from post #23 for eMachines (computer model is E4043), and Acer out of desperation, didn't work. Tried 911medic's DVD in case anything was different, but halted at the product key entry stage. Have run OEMBIOS Tool v1.1 after failed installation and checked both XP and 2003OEM options (hard drive has been formatted prior to this). "None of the 112 contained OEMBIOS sets will activate this system". And 18 for 2003OEM option. Does this mean that making a SLP version of CD1 won't help?
Thanks for the quick reply. Looking at the setupp configuration file on DVD it had a different Pid string. Ending with triple zero instead of OEM. I need to read up about the DMI Boot CD (as broken enough already). But firstly I need to remaster DVD and add the Gateway/eMachine file from OEM BIOS sticky to where on the DVD? And edit Pid value to 76487OEM.
Thanks for the help urie. It has been a relief getting concise help after getting overwhelmed with the wealth of information on this forum. I ran scancode's "DMI Boot CD/Floppy/USB for Award-AMI-Intel BIOS (Add SLP1.0 w/o modding)" and it appeared to have the DMI information already - lucky as I didn't fancy altering any values. So amending the Setupp file Pid line, copying the four compressed OEMBIOS files to i386 directory, and then making new DVD using nLite was all that was needed. Phew.
