Guys i need some help, i did a clean install and it gets 3 quarters of the way through swapping CD1 and CD2 of WinMCE 2005 and then asks for Windows XP Professional Edition CD2 ? what do i do? i tried putting in the only XP professional Disk i have and no joy wont get past, its looking for D:i836 files i think? I think the XP Professional disk i tried was a Windows XP Professional with SP3 disc but im not sure if its Retail or OEM? Can anyone give me a link to Genuine MSDN Windows XP Professional with SP2 ie. Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 (English) ISO|English|Release Date: 8/12/2004|Hide Details File Name: en_winxp_pro_with_sp2.iso Languages: English SHA1: 7cd7058dbbfab108316b20fe4cef989abebf211f Anyone have a link? please
I noticed this as well. Maybe they (M$) are tired of playing with XP and pushing Windows 7. Having to deal with the likes of us with one less OS is less of a headache for them?
oh ok, i will try it again, its just that it was asking for disc 2, but that was akready in there? its a bit of a pain. I should have just prepared a single image for DVD.
yeah, it installed fine after this, doh! On another note can anyone explain to me why its showing as Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2, why Version 2002? i thought this was Version 2005? i'm confused? and can anyone tell me how i can backup my current oembios before making any changes please.
ok, cheers, i ran the OEMBIOS backup, it seemed to run ok but gave me 3 errors? Are those errors important? Will it give me problems if i wanted to restore my original OEMBIOS? And regarding the MSDN MCE 2005 CD image, those linke you have posted are the same ones i used to download. But when it installed it came back with Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Version 2002 Service Pack 2? which is now Service Pack 3 as installed SP3 using Windows Update. Why is it showing Version 2002 and not Version 2005?
Ok, will do, whats the best/easiest screen capture utility to use? as XP dont have no built in screen grab like windows 7 has?
You can see the reference in the about dialogue in the Media Center app itself... BTW, winver is also showing normal
