Hi all, have been following alot of discussion intermittently but I'm a bit confused and seek your advise on which version of Windows 10 is right for "power users ". I'm also concerned if I can control Automatic Updates myself. Don't want OS to be smart enough to install updates without my notice. EDIT: I checked you can configure the Updates just like in Win8.1 via a util or Group policy... Telemetery can be controlled to a certain extent with utils/tweaks Can you upgrade from Windows 8.1 Pro to Win10 Entr ? or to the LTSB ? Also I'm leaning towards LTSB as it doesn't have the metro apps that I really don't use at all... but then I also read LTSB doesn't recieve updates and bug fixes as often. I can't even see a v1511 revision in the MSDN download section for LTSB. I do like uptodate system... and have a high end rig. Should be able to KMS license the OS, which I guess you can do with LTSB -- right ?
It will receive security updates and such, just not new features. I have updated from within win 8.1 to LTSB fine in the past.
Isn't this one 10240.16384.150709-1700.TH1_CLIENTENTERPRISE_S_EVAL_X64FRE_EN-US.ISO newer than the one you listed ? looks like to be... Still need to reconfirm
Install a virtual version (eg. in vmware) and test it. I can't find any LTSB EVAL iso for downloading and testing. If it exists it should only contain one or 2 updates extra (which should be, by now, longly superseded). The version you show is 16384 and in september 2015 the downloads of home/pro by using the MCT were 16393.
my LTSB buildlabex is 10240.16644.amd64fre.th1.160104-1507 productname Windows 10 Enterprise 2015 LTSB and i have Activations by OEM MAK KMS
I use Pro and just disable updates/or defer updates in gpedit.msc. Get my update installers from MDL Windows 10 Hotfix repository. I find this to be better arrangement.
