    Hi Everyone,

    I have a Gigabyte Ga-F2a88XM-HD3 Bios Ver.F8f Mobo and AMD A6-6400K CPU.

I have installed an adapter card with a nvme m2 mounted on it to a pcie4x slot.

I have cloned my system disk to it but it is not appearing as a boot option in the bios.

I have a feeling it has someithing to do with the uefi or no bios support but I am not that knowledgeable this.

Windows sees it as a drive.

Do you think I need a Modded bios to get support for the M2 or is it something else?

    Update
I took the plunge and tried to mod the BIOS myself.
Everything seemed to go well wih PATA as an option.
The only thing is I still cannot boot from the m.2.
If anyone can throw some light on the subject any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks

If I understood you correctly, you have one contradiction there, namely GIGABYTE GA-F2A88XM-HD3 does not support M.2 NVMe, but you can use M.2 SATA with the help of an adapter. The first one will never work with your motherboard, but there is no problem with the second one, the only thing is that you won't win anything because it will work at the speed of a normal SATA SSD and never faster. But You may lost whole motherboard if have done something wrong.
So, what do You exactly have - M.2 SATA or M.2 NVMe? This is the first thing what must know.

    No I think you don't

The point is to boot an NVME SSD.

Never say never. It can be done easily using CLOVER or DUET or a modded bios (if available).

A further option would be a NVME SSD with the required option ROM (like the Samsung 950 Pro, or a couple of Plextor models).

Nowadays they are impossible to find new, and expensive on ebay as used items.

some info. We had an MSI and the only way m.2 worked thru cpu lanes on it was with some tweaks. 1) in bios 1,2,3 slots where switched to cpu lanes from chipset, only slot 2 and 3 were working properly (with a lil digging in bios and switching m.2 to main boot here and there) 2nd) gpu was dropped down to pcie 5 which is only chipset lanes. If comfortable for a workstation, but other than that maybe not for gaming.
