I must be blind, I searched the codeburg.org site and didn't find the offensive message you show.

    who are you talking to?

where did I say "virus free" anywhere? where was that even a focus? you're not posting on a "fanboy's" thread, I am actually a really technically capable person, to the point I can literally do everything and anything on any device, Windows, Linux, Mac, whatever...

MacOS, in it's current form--compared to any Microsoft device or Windows build past or present, and any Linux distro out there, including my own--is far more capable and pristine and polished and perfected. Again, coming from a real technically capable person using all platforms, MacOS is currently superior, and when more people really get their hands on Apple Silicon, there will be plenty more switching. It isn't an "if" but a "when".

you're obviously not very technically capable and just poorly regurgitate useless bylines about something you really don't know anything about. thanks, play again.

If you like it, Keep using it, Good luck
    Mr technician lol
You are another apple fan boy
    Listen to your words

    Virus free
    That what you keep singing
Every time (you and your friends)

Most secure system in the world
    Fine. Keep dreaming

And the point that their system is closed garden
A Lot of people don't like it
    So ...
I will never going to using their products
    Or their system

    Microsoft is popular system
That is why Normally hackers wil try found 0 day for it ..!!
And Microsoft put a lot of effort in security updates
    But you already know this
After that s**t you said before

so, upon further analysis, painstakingly so, I have found quite a few differences between the Devel Insider Preview and 2h22. The production build is missing several things for the aarch64 platform.

I would bet it has to do with Windows Security not working properly and that is why they are forcing 11 arm for those of us on Apple Silicon. I will just keep using the Insider Preview.

Makes sense. Thanks for the feed-back.
I keep using the Insider too, and it just works great so far.

yeah, I got "forced" to use Windows at work several times, like the NT3.5 & NT4 days ;(
    I loathed that M$ stuff

I've been a avid Linux supporter, with all it's faults, it's still my bread an butter, and I have to say I can tell you the pains and hates I have for some of the Linux devs (LP particularly) and the shortsightedness NHIS of the kernel devs w.r.t. ZFS. But let me tell you this, when I got introduce to the MacBookPro 17" in 2008, it wasn't only the device, but boy oh boy, MacOS X 10.5 blew my socks off, and I've never gone back to anything Windows nor Linux on the desktop.
I can tell you I've tried, but everytime I've found to run a Hackintosh was more than worth the effort on the hardware... especially as the Intel in the laptops didn't do it justice, and they didn't have decent macPro desktop compared to my hackintosh.

But I had to pull the trigger 2-3years ago on a iMac24" (I'm just sorry I bought it with 8GB RAM, though I kitted it out with a Seagate FireCuda Thunderbolt storage), and a M1 Pro MBP16" (16GB ram 512GB NVMe) last month (my MacAir 13" 2020 Retina the last i5 didn't handle my sudden changed work situation) and I can say this, now that I've been using them full time for 4months. I'm not looking back and I'm quite content with what I got. I must say, the M2/M3 has issues compared to the M1Pro...

Ugly?? yeah, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Well designed, I'll tear apart any Dell, Asus, Acer, etc. that is in the same category, price range and age as the MBP16" M1Pro I bought. And what I will tell you, I've redone the calculation I did back in 2008, 2010, 2020 and now in 2024, and the results were: Given a device, with the SAME specs as the Apple MacBookPro, you'll spend typically >30% MORE than the Apple devices.

That, acer-5100, is the most useless, ignorant and hateful statement I've read in a very long time on this forum

    Hahaha

I can't imagine anything as useless as MacOS.

I got my hands on a pre-release original Mac, It was (obviously) an American sample that required 110V, 117V was on the label (even the voltage looks stupid in the apple world :D ), we bought a bulky 220/110 transformer to power it on and finally we were blessed by the first GUI on a consumer PC. (consumer is a bit of stretch given the useless thing did cost like a small car).

We were all amazed by the paint and other GUI goodies that were novelties for everyone (except for Xerox guys that invented it, just to get the idea stolen by Jobs)

Well after a couple of hours of playing, everyone had a question: "amazing, but now what?", there were no applications, no games, no utilities, no HDD, no way to read a floppy written even by an Apple II or III, and so on.

After 40 years that question is mostly unchanged. At least in the intel era you can use the macs as real computers with a real OS, but now?

The Apple Silicon is a good CPU, but buying a 2000$ device just to install Windows for ARM or Linux in a VM?

Well good taste is a thing. A device like a Thinkpad, designed by Marco Zanuso and Richard Sapper, after 40 years is that design albeit mostly unchanged is still a milestone in timeless industrial design.

The only decent thing that apple released was probably the mac cube (perhaps one of the worst commercial failures in Apple's history)

Apple fanboysm/cult is a cancer, you are just yet another confirm of that.

@stayboogy, Let me tell you from different are in hardwares problems.. Macbook pro or any Mac, parts are very expensive to replace it and can not upgrade memory ram or storage drive like NMVe or SSD. So I had been repairing Mac many years and see many problems with M1 or Newer "M#" whatever is crazy problems.. For PC, is cheaper to replace it and some mostly can upgrade memory RAM and storage Also, even change different CPU.. When My PC was i5 core 3ghz (4 Cores) with 32gb ram. SO, I changed my CPU Xeon 3.56hz has 8 CORES. It darn faster than my i5. I bought good condition LGA 1150 Xenon for $40 bucks and still running!

Think again honestly my everyday is my PC and once blue moon do on Mac (rarely) SO.. If you are Mac FAN, that fine... You will figure it out when times comes. Oh.. Matter fact acer-5100 he has own mind what has to say... I don't have problems with acer-5100!!

I am well aware of the lack of upgrading soldered components, and that doesn't matter to me at all. I bought the Pro M1 for very specific reasons and, regardless all the hate, it is superior to any intel device out there that is not running a xenon cpu. both in power and efficiency. it isn't just me saying it--literally every truly experienced unbiased technician agress that the M1 can't be beat. even the M2 and M3 are having a hard time to show truly boastable gains in performance over the M1.

I have been around a long long time. I have built both laptops and desktops and nucs and embedded devices for myself, and do frequently. It would cost me $2500+ to get a PC laptop anywhere near this powerful, and this cost me less than $1000.

now that Linux is running damn near fully hardware accelerated on the M1, it won't be long before more and more switch.

and, intel cpus are going to be obsolete anyway. they use too much energy for their poor power output, and that is why your fan never stops running on a PC with an intel cpu because it is trash at efficiency and making the most of the smallest amount of input power.

arm architecture cpus in laptops are the future, no doubt. they will be ubiquitous in a few years and no one will even care about intel, other than fanboys....

Yeah parrot the stupid sentences that every Apple fanboy like to repeat.

There is no such ARM superiority, in any scenario.

ARM CPUs used to be the natural choice in micro controllers and small embedded devices with slow clocks and comsumption in the range of mW to 1W or little more. In that range there was (and there is) no competition from x86 makers.

But when you scale the clock and the power to compete with real computers, there is no magic. High clock, large caches and so on = high power.

    PERIOD

In that area what matters is not the ISA, is not the architecture, it's the process scale that matters

An ARM CPU on 4nm process will consume more or less the same amount of power than a x86 CPU with roughly the same the same computational power, and the same 4nm process.

The M1 had an edge, for a couple of years, because apple had the money to book the 5 nm process before AMD, now that advantage is already gone.

AMD CPUs consume less than used to, M2 and M3 consume more because they have to improve the performances over the previous generations.

Intel will recover the disadvantage pretty soon.

Pretty simple (and pretty obvious for everyone isn't a ignorant fanboy)

But feel free to believe that if you build a motor-scooter sized like a Caterpillar truck, it still consumes like a 50cc motorscooter, and 2 strokes engines will dominate the world. :roflmao:

    U oke Acer?

your attitude is really annoying the people who just want to hear someones opinion.
I dont feel that he is pushing people to go for mac, its more like he is describing something we all already start to feel when we use our iphone or mac. There is just something around it, more like a less is more principle I guess.
I am starting to slowly trancend to the other side, i guess. This kind of information helps me to make a start somewhere.

    Thank you stay boogy!

This is not an opinion as soon as ""misunderstandings" and facts contradict so many things I read here... some are just plain made up...
I have a Mac Mini M2 Pro... worst appliance, or I don't know how to name that, it is compatible with nothing, even my display Asus ROG, needed an app to work. Beside the Magic craps no way to use a simple fingerprint reader, so you have a stupid password box popping up every 5 minutes, this is the almost the entire security system, there is another one, to protect "system" files, aka the 12+ apps from Apple, that cannot be removed...
Privacy is not at all what they say, you can go through the 30 screens (unusable) of the settings app... it's like an enigma... in the end, they track you across apps and services and sell ads, and data... except they do not say it clearly... iCloud is a nice amateur set of "cloudish" apps... really.. that's nowhere close any Microsoft service...
This is a dumbed down system, only saved by a couple of apps, and because it is another UNIX clone. Sold by the most dishonest "tech" - funny they fall into this category, like Tesla... - company, but they are saving human rights, bring revolutionary intelligence, and USB C.. now maybe, maybe, free NFC? I was nice with the word honest.
Enjoy, it's about the least friendly and interesting system there is... there is just nothing serious to do there...
And Intel and the others are crushing them, they were more powerful before they are more than ever, Intel architecture, is the one of a real chip making company, it can scale and with tiles and layers, they are ready for generations, the "not performant for games" is quite... incredibly reported by the "news", the numbers just show there is plenty of optimisation to do, it's a completely new platform for desktop. Intel does that... and by the way takes risks, with 10th of billions invested in fabs, they have like 7 producing chip all day long... They have a very nice line up in many different markets, and by the way are still way ahead in servers, but in general... They'd merit to be supported... No, finance clearly has issues with "tech" as market valuations and stocks are just incredible... Apple is fragile, they do nothing 30 other companies can do and better... they aren't full of cash... makes no sense. Tesla... anyway. There are more important problems, education, politics, justice, news, schools, it's all based on beliefs and dogmas. Even academics aren't all well... beliefs, dogmas and science... makes sense.
