I used to have a Technet account for 3 years, it ran out just before Windows 8 released, and I still use my keys today, there is only 1 Windows XP key that has ran out, and I don't even know how because I don't use XP lol I was wondering because I have 1 x Win 8 TechNet key and 1 x Win 8.1 TechNet key, and want to know how many times I can use them without having to use Phone activation I guess I have nothing to worry about really
I've only got a free TechNet account for 1 day, if some of you guys remember that special day a few years back.
Hmm vaguely remember a 'workaround' that allowed free accounts to be created, MS quickly blacklisted the keys and accounts iirc ? I joined a free program called "IT Pro Momentum" - that came with a free 1 year TechNet sub, they auto renewed it for year 2, then they cancelled it after year 2, so I emailed MS requesting another renewel and they gave me year 3 free too
No, no need for work-arounds, that day you just buy a year of technet, charge is $0. Next day all these "free accounts" were all cancelled, keys still good though, last year I installed XP in new machine, installed Office-07, and activated. Of course, your 3-year thing is much much better.
Since Murphy's thread on WZOR/MSDN hash was closed, and I don't wish to start a thread, so it's something off-topic: A few guys still fancy about a "new win8.1 edition for MS download", their arguments were based on the fact that there will be expected quite a lot of updates on the win8.1 RTM build 9600. If you still have a win8 running, check IE10 and see what version it is reporting, check update history and see all those hundred-MB updates installed, some of them were released and installed before win8 went GA last Oct., and also the updates to the win8 default apps..... now run slmgr /dlv, and see what version of win8 is reported. The same will happen for win8.1,because that's how MS runs the windows system, period.
I fail to see why to continue it.. Someone will end up butthurt over it lol anyway. It makes sense that the DVD's released will be what we have now, it also makes sense that MS can at any time choose to update the iso's to reflect changes they didn't add to the DVD. Is it really so crucial to everyone how it works out? I had some fun with the topic, but I'm over it now, too much sensitivity going with it. I can get the drama from my ole lady's girl friends if I want to hehe
Sorry, MS will not update the ISO either, if you download win8 now, you still get the same old thing from last Jul RTM. As I mentioned before, if MS adds the updates to the ISO, it would make the updates mandatory, it just doesn't happen (period, too ). Another point, if your win8.1 does not report a version 9600.16384, no updates will be installed (LOL, another period.).
NOTHING sucks as much as congress. Congress puts vacuum cleaners and porn stars to shame with their sucking. Sorry for the OT.
Said many times: - If you enter the WMC key activated on same machine, it will activate by itself when on-line. - If on different machine, e.g. you got the key from web, phone activate, because free WMC key is bundled to the machine it activated.
