READ carefully, the data.dat file replacement is NEEDED in order to install the WMC key...but yeah, after a successful over the phone activation... permanently activated...so it says at the slmgr /xpr command...
If it's done correctly, there shouldn't need to make any phone calls, or at most one phone call after install, some guys in PCBeta reported no phone call required so far. I have updated the OP, have a reference if needed. Sorry, in that case unable to help.
OK, I found it, or rather I found two e-mails from MS with keys but I don't know which one I used on which Windows installation (different PCs), any idea how I can find it out? Nirsoft's ProduKey apparently just displays the Win 8 keys.
I don't have WMC, there are different ways to show last 5 digits but I don't know it shows win8 or WMC key: right click computer-> properties -> bottom line "View detail in Windows Activation".
Guuuys !! I am in really big trouble ! Running Windows 8.1 Pro WMC, activated WMC with my own untouched key from last year. (never used it) PS : I'm not like a newbie. I followed this steps and activated 2 PC's, but on this one I used that old WMC key.... So, here is what's happening: I get the Confirmation ID from the UK robo', type it in boxes, it tells me the message : '' All is done ! '', but it just won't turn activated. Can someone help me please ? I don't know what to do, tried many keys (note : they are not blocked, because I get the confirmation ID !) EDIT : I just did it. Tried again with some spair WMC key, received from someone. He/she uploaded the rest anyway on that pastebootin link. Check it out if you have same problem as me. Please, someone ?
All goes well with your tutorial IF they have at least a retail winpro 8 key ( and I'm not talking about pastebin keys). I strongly suspect there's no way to insert a WMC key on an unactivated 8.1 Pro, hence the need the data file replacement and offline mod required. Maybe I'm doing som tin wong , but the ONLY way I could activate Pro WMC 8.1 on other systems was by having a data.dat file from an activated pro 8.1 rig. By only using the pastebin keys, I strongly suspect it's either two calls or use a data.dat file. BTW. The pastebin keys are still functional, last install+activation was an hour ago...
Like I said, read the OP carefully and decide if you need slightly more help. .... if it's same machine for the WMC key, you shouldn't require to do any phone calls, WMC is bundled to machine, so even for win8, if you use the WMC key on another machine, you need to phone activate.
Interestingly i activated several ProWMC installs so far without changing the data.dat. You can install Pro with default retail trial key, then upgrade to ProWMC with the matching retail trial key. Afterwards enter your ProWMC key and activate over phone.
Naturally. If you use WMC key on same machine and follow method in OP, no phone calls required, for initial install or further re-installs, confirmed by people in PCbeta.
Sorry pisthai, just noticed your post - if install on same machine as the win8WMC, it should activate by itself, or on-line, if install on another machine, then you probably need to phone activate, because the WMC key is bundled to the machine.
