@Urie: I believe that both You and I have seen our fair share of scammers and scalliwags. That's why I chose Amazon. They're fairly reliable, and the web pages indicate that they're both genuine and will pass muster where Windows 10 is concerned. I can only hope that the 3rd party seller is legitimate. My sediments exactly. :MJ
It shows that a slic table is present. That table was either provided by Daz loader, or by the oem (Dell) in bios. The best way to be sure is to uninstall the loader, then check if slic table is still present. If it is, then the loader is not really needed for oem activation. In most cases, when an oem sends a machine out the door with a slic table in bios, they also attach a windows coa sticker to the case. The sticker would prove it is legitimate, perhaps to the goons who are auditing you.
Thanks so much for the explaination. I understand now. My laptop came with Ubuntu and no COA certificate. So I have to purchase a legal license.
Yeah sure. Meantime put two Rottweilers in the front door of your office, this will refrain inspectors at least for a while until Win10 RTM is out.
But, for those people who don't want Windows 10, a good place to buy Windows 7 licenses would still be a boon.
Try this subforum on reddit...oh bollocks...I cannot post links yet, let's try this: Google reddit and microsoftsoftwareswap
I second that. They have not contacted me again. But if they do send me some price for Win & Pro licenses, I am thinking of pointing them to the many ebay India links giving the licenses very cheap and see if these are legal. If these are not, I can also ask them what action they are taking on such blatant open piracy. Is this genuine? Looks very cheap? Are these OEM or retail licenses?
To answer one of your questions, if you have activated Ultimate with Daz loader and then purchase a legit Pro key, you can not merely change the key. You first need to install the Pro edition. There are also downgrade methods that involve registry editing followed by a repair install using the Pro disc.
In this case I can just buy a Ultimate key, that should work with my install, right? I found some links, these seem to be OEM stickers. Seems similar to buying from reddit.
Yes, uninstall Daz loader and change to whatever key you buy, if it is Ultimate. Dubious legality in selling these I would think, but they will probably activate and pass genuine tests.
I just purchased a key through reddit. Now want to install it. What is the correct procedure. Should I uninstall daz, reboot, put new key using "slui 3" command and activate? How to backup the activation?
I have purchased a Win 7 Ultimate key from reddit. This statement of yours is very important if true. Then I should definitely have a genuine Win 10 license once it is released. Will this work if I buy the Win 7 keys even after Win 10 is released? As Win 10 is supposed to be free for a year to Win 7 users. Or will Win 7 activations after July 29 not be counted?
As long as you upgrade within the first year it doesn't matter when you installed/activated Windows 7 or Windows 8.
