FTP would be nice... but 100% agree - ADMINS needed. and uploads need to be checked - only allowed from TRUSTED SOURCES.... so many DL's from other places are CORRUPT or hacked & not as the ORIGINAL POSTER intended. I have used DL's from Canouna, Torko, Alex & others - also found their "Files" or programs on other FORUMS.. which I compare with HASH or other methods... I do trust them... I also use IE and FlashFXP for FTP. WAREZ is dangerous.... (IMHO)
It's a good idea, but something that could quickly escalate. Everyone needs a private PW cause otherwise the ftp login will be leaked in exactly 3s after the ftp opens. Also the server needs enough bandwith. BA has 100MBps up and crashes when win8 leaks because so many people downloading it. Maybe private torrent server instead of ftp?
i know that only certian people will be allowed to upload but will anyone (who has 10 posts and 10 thanks) be allowed to download or is that going to change aswell cos it is an awesome idea and its effort to join BA forums and get so many posts
This is a good idea and should be limited to trusted members that are at least junior members. This will allow everything in the Mirror Repository to be hosted in one place. Also I like the idea of not being able to use filezilla that way we know if someone is uploading that they have authorization to do so.
Good to hear! Ive been wanting to start an ftp for MDL for some time but no job equals no money equals no brandwith This wouldd be real nice to have as atleast mirror.
I don't know much of networking, so how can you deny access by certain program's (like filezilla). ftp is just ftp afterall. Except when the pasword for the server isn't published, but hardcoded in the app. New problem -> ftp client leak = need for new client (with new pw) => older versions won't work.
well we would just have to create a new ftp program with updated password once a month or just have a password that changes once a month. In both situation we would PM it to everyone who has authorization or create a restricted VIP forum that has the links.
