@RafhaCorreia Checking in my ultimate version, DirectX does not appear in Control Panel. Suggestions: If you have the "Runtime Version Checker" option in your Control Panel, this utility will show the version of DirectX installed. Or, go to "run" and type "dxdiag.exe" which will also show you the installed version of DirectX.
Only NET Framework 4.8 and Visual C++ Redistributable will appear in "Control Panel - Programs And Features". DirectX will not appear. That is normal.
I put the dxdiag command and it has no information about DirectX9. It is only informed that it is DirectX11.
@RafhaCorreia I don't understand, what are you looking for? DXDIAG will always show the native DirectX version, which for windows 7 is 11. It's there, if that's what you're worried about.
If Directx 11 appears it is because it is installed and is the latest version compatible with the operating system "dxdiag" shows a lot of information, as you can see in the attached images:
I'm a little overwhelmed by all the info and possibilities on the first page. "old tool" "modern tool" "legacy tool" "bare tool" "provide a win 10 source ISO" I have no idea which to download and whether any of these "addons packages" are necessary with the various tools. I'm basically just preparing now for a future install and would like to get everything downloaded and ready along with specific steps. The goal is to create an installer that's most likely to work on modern hardware. I did something similar 3 years ago on an Intel I-5 and Gigabyte Z370 by using the MSI Win7 Smart tool to integrate USB drivers with the .iso onto a flash drive that was ready for install. It was fairly easy with very simple instructions. But I worry that hardware has changed in that time reducing compatibility. I've already got the en_windows_7_ultimate_with_sp1_x64_dvd_u_677332.iso Also, a concern I have is the mention of update packs. On my current system, a 2017 update, KB4012215, broke the functionality of Photoshop CS2. So the right course of action is to download the "bare tool" and then download the newest UpdatePack next to it, right? Latest addons, drivers, etc. included?
Bare tool + latest updatepack + latest WA files and latest smartfix pro, insert the advised MSDN source ISO and run the legacy tool script. This weekend i will update all the packages, have to change some code for forcing unsigned driver integration and test the scripts.
Oh yeah I got it now, I downloaded the "bare tool", scrubbed the Addons_x64 and Addons_x86 folders and downloaded the updated files from the post. Thanks for your continued effort By the way, I found a bug in the "W7_x86_x64_2.9_Legacy_WIN7_Based_ISO_ESU_With_AiO.cmd" script, but it's an easy fix. It happens when you have both 8.1 and 10 SDKs installed (probably as a part of Visual Studio) but only the Windows 10 ADK, it fails to find the dism.exe from Windows 10 ADK because it finds the 8.1 SDK path first, tries that, doesn't find dism.exe and skips to :START. Fix is to check both paths, just move the "goto :START" under ":check81adk" at line 69 outside the parenthesis to line 68 inside the parenthesis. I understand that the DaRT is the recovery toolset environment but what does it mean to integrate it in to "boot" or "WinRE"? and also how to include a language pack by default? to achieve the same thing as downloading & installing a language pack from windows update afterwards. I want to use the enUS installation so it makes all the default folders and configuration stuff in the enUS format but also have the possibility to change the display&input language.
I will see what @abbodi1406 thinks about the dism stuff, he gave me the code for that. Boot,wim is for booting the ISO, winre.wim is for booting to the winre environment. Those are the .netfx48 languagepacks, only the one for your language is needed (when available), the correct language pack is selected by the tool. Windows Language packs are not supported.
Another suggestion, please use "%~d0\AiO_Mount" instead of "%SystemDrive%\AiO_Mount" (and for WinRE_Mount too) so it uses the current drive from where the script is ran and not the system drive. Because now if I start the script from D:\ (not my system drive) it copies files over to C:\ which is my system drive, thus slowing down the system. edit: also could add /Temp="%~dp0temp\UpdatePack7\" command line option for the UpdatePack in SiMPLiX.bat and SiMPLiX_boot.bat so it uses the same temp folder as your script, and not the default system one. edit2: here is the fixed version for legacy script (use same drive as script, updatepack use same temp folder as script, find both w8.1 and w10 adk): removed link i forgot a file
The entire ISO updating process just takes 6min (x86) 8min (x64), total progress (AiO + all provided drivers) is approx. 30min. EDIT: I will check what i can do, maybe a script setting for the desired mount folder, but that takes some more effort for the simplix.bat.
Well, in my case the problem besides speed was that the system drive did not have enough space . And I think it's more clean/makes more sense to use the same temp folder inside script folder for everything and use same drive as the script uses for mounting. Also in the case of system crashing/power goes off in the middle of everything, there are not files strewn around all over, only in the script folder.
And when i do that, people request to have the mount folder on the system drive, in system drive SSD and storage drives being HDD spinners scenarios.
