This is the only other app (apart from iTunes) that will get metadata/id3 data automatically with ease for many items at once (that might not be off the same album(s)). So really depends what your doing with your media player to what you recommend. I use VLC for most things, but media player classic has less frame glitching than VLC, so I use that too, I never use WMP as it takes too long to start and fill the screen too much when playlist is visible. I use Kodi (With PleXBMC Addon) for accessing Plex Media Server (which is the best solution for a central media server, as it to gets Metadata really easily). The best feature of VLC is it can amplify above 100% which is great for quiet AC3 AAC BDRips on a laptop or low powered speaker system.
Thank you for the correction. I referred to my other system with Windows 8.1 as regard Media Player as a whole. The title of the thread escaped my mind.
MediaMonkey Gold does everything, syncs iPods/Android/phones to playlists, etc, re-encodes videos/music, large libraries without crashing, etc.
Yeah Pot player is awesome. You can also play videos in border-less mode like macs do. To do this simple right click anywhere in the player goto skins and select Auto-hide skin during playback. To get the menu or header bars simply mouse hover top or bottom. Looks very cool. Ive used it for about a year now and I think its better than VLC. It plays everything I've thrown at it.
Klite codec pack standard, which includes MPC. Is worth to install VLC too, because its ability to play ruined and badly recoded files. But MPC [HC] is way more pleasant to use.
