Well... it depends... Some extremely helpful people hardly have any posts at all, but they don't go around saying things like: got <insert thing here>?
Nope, WRONG . The entered key still determines the licensing channel. Enter gVLK to a Retail Install and observe the result (is applicable for all versions, although there apparently won't exist MAK for Core or ProWMC) .
yeah cannot seem to find anything that will do a MAK for Core/ProWMC. Check your pm for my findings lol
To my knowlegde MAKs are adressed to versions used by Enterprises, i.e. Pro, Ent and Servers. Core and ProWMC are Retail/OEM only.
agreed, and as you see in the list there wasn't even a thought to creating one from what I could find.
You know better, what's the recommended version to download and install? Retail, VL, ?? For Home User + Windows ToolKit Thanks!
The fun of installing Windows 8.1 VL Downloaded in total 5 times the Windows 8.1 VL (with Updates) ISO because had problem to either start or finish an installation using different Boot Medias! While check all that downloaded ISO's, all Checksums were matching! Used Rufus 1.4.6 for to create an bootable 8GB Sun Cruzer Edge stick and started the install from that Stick. It started and run till 21%, received an error than. So, restarted used an other USB Port, didn't start installation. Burned an DVD, didn't boot from DVD! Tested jsut to check with original Win8 DVD, booted! Downloaded an new ISO! same happens again. Took the normal Windows 8.1 Pro with Updates and started the install, which worked from both USB and DVD! Used 3 different Sun Cruzer 8GB Sticks, all the same problem! Finally I changed to an Apacer 16GB Stick (the only free one I had right now) and that worked with no problems. OK, what could be the problem? From bad experiences with Kingston Sticks, many of them are chinese copies, we started to use Sun Sticks 2+ years ago. The sticks I used for this install were all new, never used! We'll have to check if those also chinese copies?! The next few day's I'll have to check all the Sub Sticks we have for such problems. If more than 50% are unusable we'll have to discus with our supplier! And before someone ask WHY I use VL ISO, we've to install more than 120 machines with 8.1 for which we have the legal licenses and P-Keys. Also, all those machines are by corporate customers who didn't will allow WMC on the machine. Will need to create at least 4-5 bootable Sticks with added Office 2013 an a few other Apps for our staff for to do the job. That's why I need to test that those are working correct. If someone else get similar problems, change the USB Stick and use a different one to test!
