Very nice job of derailing the topic of this thread guys. Very nice indeed. I know most of you don't care about your privacy, but some of us do. Yes really.
That's probably because there have been a ton of these threads and perhaps some are fed up of them? All it's missing so far is the Linux crowd chiming in about the evils of MS and Windows 10 - I haven't seen it posted for a few hours.
I did run LTSB but don't forget it still has telemetry inside of it the only difference is that it maybe give's you an save feeling in case of privicy and some more freedom in using apps for your system but in my opinion it does not make a lot of difference to using Pro or regular Enterprise
Then disable and remove the components, and put the goddamn effort into applying a few simple blocklists and you're done. Not a single f****** byte will get onto or off of your PC without you letting it. Why are people still being so ignorant over how this works and what to do?
we cannot deny the fact, microsoft was the owner of windows OS. as an owner it is their responsibility to make their property operates well. most people are obsessed of the so called privacy. My point of view, if you want complete privacy why not create OS? we keep using windows OS, and always complaining. are you serious?
My Son's 8.1 Pro Rig got slammed with the GWX twice in the last Month I keep updates set to download and let Me choose. When I went to clone the drive before Patch Tuesday I saw the settings had changed to Auto install and I had the Nag Icon Removed the Crap, later installed the October KBs, then took the PC offline for two Weeks since He was punished. When I put it online last Friday the Nag KB installed itself when I checked for updates even though it was set to let Me choose. I was thinking it might have something to do with Him using the MSA that I'd reserved then cancelled upgrading to Win 10 Somehow after reading a couple of the linked articles I don't think that's the cause anymore I'm not sure if using the "GWX Control Panel" is going to stop it from happening again but I'm out of options other than never checking for updates again
All the privacy concerns apart for a minute, what bugs me about this is the line "it cannot be stopped". Well, Microsoft, of course it can be stopped. You build this s**t, you can tear it down. Simple as that. It's not as if the OS suddenly developed a mind of its own, not yet.
Is his machine running ok? The latest drivers/updates are more of an addiction than a necessity. If it an't broke why flash your bios? Turn them off, update viruses defs and your done. XP is not over just because there are no more updates, security is your issue not M$, and the virus/Trojans are now within. If you learn one thing @MDL it is security is a personal preference not a conspiracy. Those that think the spying is to make the OS all it can be have a right to their opinion. What others do is also their right and may have nothing to do with porn and may just be a matter of principal. The need for the control and power will always be required by some. Hmmm what country comes to mind? Regards
contact your local tin-foil dealer and ask for a good price for some square feet of that precious metal foil
Be aware, most metal foil is now being replaced with 'smart foil' that tracks and keeps all head telemetry with direct upload ability that can't be disabled by anyone ever.
FYI -the effectiveness of "tin foil hats" is a complete myth. A study by MIT showed they would in fact increase the effectiveness of certain frequencies. I suspect anyone repeating it these days is actually contrary to reality genuinely "using only 10% of their brain". The first person to present one single byte to or from a Microsoft process to or from the internet on their 10 LTSB after applying things like DWS Lite and some Peerblock/firewall blocklists will win a prize. Because it's physically impossible.
That's a HUUUUUUGGGEE head. But in all seriousness Microsoft told everyone they were collecting hardware information, and not touch personal info(built into the OS) waaaaaay before release why is it so hard for people to understand this, google does it and so does apple.... but people hate Microsoft hard for it... and its funny cause the insiders have gotten way better than the RTM I'm enjoying the hell out of 10576. ROCK SOLID
MDF in full effect I like how anyone who values their privacy is up to no good. Nice baseless assumption about someone you know nothing about.
