The platform update your using is now out of date and a security risk, the latest version which you can download from my post above your post contains the updated files, and the problem you describe is bug which has been fixed in v4.18.2110.6 of the platform update.
Curious if you'd mind sharing your methodology on how you extract the .cab files. I assume you get them from the .exe somehow? If you're not comfortable posting here, I'd be interested in hear in a PM? Kind of want to try it myself and see how my results compare when you update this @steven4554 Itching to finish my ISO with the update from today.
I believe I have already explained how I put the needed files together, and you'll find posts on page 1 of this thread where I explained to @BAU, who then gave good feedback in order to improve and verify that the files inside the .cab files are legit and straight from MS. The only thing I was not willing to share details of was how I made the .cab file. There won't be a update today, if you check OP it will state when the next update will be available.
All good, can understand not wanting to for fear MS would patch it. I was just hoping to make my own from those .exe's (which I found using the KBs) would like to get myself a fully done .iso before Friday not gonna have time to do anything else with the .iso this week if I don't get it done tomorrow.
What fear of patching it? It's a legit way to bundle an up-to-date defender database into install.wim, that originated from microsoft themselves. The real hard work is testing. Testing to make sure the updated files will get along, and defender / windows update won't just ignore them and download them again anyway. Nobody is stopping you from doing your own, just know what you are signing up for: fresh install in a vm and monitoring defender app and windows update, then do it all over again when something is not right. Quite time-consuming task if started from scratch. steven4554 obviously has it's own process / methodology to make it easier to repeat the results, and it's his right not to share all that, since it might as well be gibberish to outside eyes. So trust it, or don't. I just helped prove the resulting files are all legit.
@BAU Never said I didn't trust it. As for patching, MS could find some way to make Steven's job harder, though I mean it's Microsoft so that'd be weird. If you read, I was just wondering so I could do it myself on a different time schedule (also you know teach a man to fish, feed him a lifetime). You misread me. Anyways, thanks Steven for providing the files whenever you do.
@phazer11 Are asking how to get the updated files? just use 7-zip to extract them from updateplatform.exe and mpam-fe.exe
That was the first thing I tried, which resulted in only VDM files in the case of mpam-fe.exe , I guess I'll just place the mpam-fe file on the drive and run it as a one off till I can get a .cab to integrate.
