@jeffreywe, Windows security platform update KB5007651 (Ver. 1.0.2207.20002) was made to fix some issues in Builds 22H2 22621 and 22622, but W.U. is applying it also in current 21H2 public builds 22000.856 and 22000.918 where it is actually introducing the same bug that it fixes with 22H2 builds. Looks to me that this update is incompatible with Builds 22000.xxx and is causing a bug, where "App & browser control" are now missing in the Windows Security Dashboard page. The update works fine with 22H2 but puts back a bug in 21H2. KB5007651 (Ver. 1.0.2207.20002) clearly shows Windows Security Version: 1000.22621.1.0. Previous Windows Security platform update － KB5007651 (Ver. 1.0.2109.27002) works fine with Builds 21H2 22000.xxx and shows Windows security Version: 1000.22000.251.0. MS needs to fix latest platform update to make it compatible with both 21H2 and 22H2, or just make a separate update for Version: 1000.22000.xxx.0 that does not add a bug on the current public 21H2 builds.
I applied the 2 updates above , it fixed the blank page bug but not the smart app control? Is there a way to completely remove and reinstall defender?
Hi Steven, Thanks! Her is my finding for update: updateplatform.exe in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\download. just run it. I don't why but it is work.
Your welcome I haven't been offered the version of platform update that you have, so I won't find that on my laptop yet. What I was asking if you have the direct download link which is on the Windows Update servers. If not I will keep on checking WU to see if I get the platform update v4.18.2209.4 as I am enrolled in the Dev Channel.
Ive come to realise that installing platform updates and healthsetup.exe's out of windows update is the cause for defender breaking After clean install i have no defender issues
