hmm how do you go lower from this last build and previous I guess microsoft testing various builds in windows insider/server channels as usual
Strange why MS released a lower version of the platform update yesterday, and yet released a higher version last Friday. Though I have checked the dates and the 9002 version which was built a day earlier than 8006. 9002 was built on the 15th Oct and 8006 on the 16th Oct.
Dear Steven, don't try to understand Microsoft's logic. We are very aware about their "mistakes". As @hoak said, Windows development stopped years ago when Marketing team now "improves" the system.
Yep I realise it's not the only product in MS line to suffer from crazy file version decisions at MS, it's like if @abbodi1406 were to release version 118 of the UUP to ISO converter this week for example and then release 117r next week.
Hi, Is there a way to delete old folders from %ProgramData%\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Platform without having to use WinRE or a similar method? Thank you.
@atplsx Just wondering, if it is convenient, could you, maybe, please post links in https? I block http/port 80, when I add "s", it will download just fine, it is a slightly annoying. I just remove them from Windows? As long as Defender is not running, it is not an issue. I update, restart and remove.
You can get rid of superseded platform updates by going to settings > system > storage > temporary files. Tick or untick what you want to keep or delete and be sure to click on Microsoft Defender as that will delete the superseded platform updates, then click on ok to start the wipe.
Well, @steven4554, I just tried your suggestion on a Microsoft Surface laptop and it did not work. Windows 11 Professional Version 25H2 (OS Build 26200.6901). Never mind, I deleted the extra folders using WinPE anyway.
theyre locked until a certain time , then all but 2 versions will get removed on clean-up I think its 30 days. Might be for system restore
Thanks dear friend I used (of course) the AMD64 installer, and I got version 4.18.25100.9003 ... Only one explanation: Microsoft
