making Win games work in Win8 So, I've read all the threads and followed all the directions and I still can't seem to get this to work. I need HELP! I went to a Win 7 machine and copied all of my favorite games. I then went to my new Win8 machine (recently updated from Win8 preview) and pasted them into a folder named Windows games in "Program Files". My new Win8 machine is X64. I have all the game folders I want (Solitaire, Spider Solitaire, Hearts and Mahjong) in that folder. I then copied and pasted the"CardGames.dll" file into each of the game folders. All of the individual game folders contain "en-us", "CardGames.dll", and the game. I then downloaded the "Patch" and put that into the "Windows Games" folder. Now the problem. When i open the "Patch" the patch comes up and I click on "Patch". I then get a dialog box that says "Cannot find the file. Search the file?". If I click on "yes" a search dialog box comes up and it takes me to "Program Files". Is this right? What do I search for? When I was still using Win 8 preview it all worked. Now with Win8 upgrade, NADA! I'm totally confused !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Help me Obi Wan, you're my only help! Jim

I am trying to make inkball work for Windows 8.1 but it does not run. the patcher does not work. is there a way to patch it manually? thanks in advance. kazeus
I'm trying to do this on my parent's new laptop, I followed the instructions. Though the old Windows 7 install was 32bit and we now have Windows 8 64 bit, is this a problem? I've put them in Program Files x86 and put the .dlls where they need to be, when I run the patcher it tries to look in Program Files so I directed it to each file as it asked, but in the log it says ERROR and that nothing was patched. :/
So you can't use 32 bit Windows 7 games on Windows 8 at all?... Is there perhaps somewhere I can download the 64 bit games then, maybe even prepatched?
Did anyone ever get the Vista RTM versions of the games to work on XP? Not just hacking out the beta version text on the title bars, the versions which shipped with Vista. That out of place circle in Solitaire bugs me...
