Will this also allow the use of the Win 7 games in XP with Alky? People lost interest in running Vista apps on XP and nobody ever bothered to patch the RTM versions of the Vista games.

Sorry, it doesn't. But thanks for remembering good old days of patching Vista executables.

    Worked fine. Win8.1/64

Installed it on Win8.1/64. Worked like a charm apart from McAfee complaining and a pretty scary VirusTotal report (attached).

    Thanks Tito!

The names prove they are false-positives :cool2:.

I'm not very knowledgeable on virus matters. Do you care to share what in the names shows that they are false-positives? (Other of course than the obvious HackTool.Patch (Not a virus), Risktool: not-a-virus etc.) Is there anything else in the names that it would be good to know? (For instance how can I tell that "Trojan (0040f3a51)" or "TROJ_SPNR 03FC13" are false positives, or can I?

Thanks for any further info you might provide! :)

At first it's mostly a question of trust :D. Then it's the overall of detections that seems to be behavior related.

Thanks! My gut feeling was right then. I run the patch despite all the red warnings. I posted the VT report for others to see my experience.

Thanks again for your replies! :)

Oh my God! What does all this techie-speak MEAN!?! Could someone explain this in simple language for simple minds? After all, you don't think those of us who are addicted to playing computer games all day and night actually have the intelligence to understand how to get from Point A to Point B with this abbreviated notation? I would be infinitely grateful if someone would write to me personally for just that purpose: minnie13mouse13 at yahoo.com. I did manage to download that patch (after switching to IE because Chrome insisted on protecting me from myself).

Problems to run ms games 7 on windows 8.1

Dear all, I need a little help.

On my old laptop (Dell Inspiron i5 CPU) I applied the patch and Working fine! (Operating system Windows 8.1 x64 Enterprise English)

    I buy a new laptop, (a netbook) - Dell Inspirion 3135. This is a AMD A6 processor and running Windows 8.1 x64

I tried use Windows 7 Games on this new laptop and down work. I tried regenerate files and nothing. If I copy gamefiles to my old notebook - working fine.

Maybe can be a problem about CPUs ? Old computer running at Intel i5 and the new is AMD A6...

    Any help?
    Thanks in advanced.

The patch isn't processor dependent :g:

Are you sure that you have followed the instructions properly?? Any AV/security software may block the patch.

    Yes, i´m sure.
If I get files from ´solitare spider´ that I patch in netbook and copy it to my old notebook - it´s working fine.

Both are Windows 8.1 x64 - netbook is default and old notebook is entreprise edition
    Both in english US

Thank you. I´ll test if can be Windows 8.1 edition. My old computer run Enterprise and the new run ´standard´. I´ll try install enterprise in new laptop and test it again.

Well, appear that is not a CPU issue .. I made a test : I create a Virtual Machine installing windows 8.1. The host use a Intel CPU. Virtual machine does not work too solitarespider. Maibe a issue from Windows 8.1 Build. I´m using the most recent ISO file, Windows Version 6.3 Build 9600
I´ll try patch it manually - editing binary file...

I tried at all modes.. No way :(
I install new windows 7 VM, copy again games files, patch it with XVI32 replacing string - don´t work. Probably is edition of Windows 8.1 that I´m using.
