Obviously it will work. Read the first post; despite of large number of warnings the patch is completely harmless. Most of the cases, it is flagged as Hacktool or Patcher.
Gosh i feel so incredibly stupid. I have no idea what any of that meant. I'm so overwhelmed. I just want the game purble place on my windows 8 pc. iIf ANYONE is kind and patient enough to help me and explain how in a much simpler and easier way for a clueless girl like me, i'd be so grateful and over the moon!
I must be very dense. I need help. I have copied the MicrosoftGames folder from W7 to W8. To be safe I copied to both Program Files and Program Files(86). I copied the CardGames.dll from W7 to each game folder and then downloaded version 1.2 of the Patcher. (Does Patcher have to be installed in a particular place?) I then ran Patcher and clicked on Patch and it zipped through some stuff. When I finally was able to read it (very hard to read with current colors) it said "nothing to patch" "Error". I tried clicking on the game exec for Spider Solitaire and nothing happened. What am I missing? My wife is upset with me, I got her a new laptop, it had W8, and she wants to play the W7 Spider Solitaire. I need some help please. Thanks to any brave souls.
My father use to play them now since I am planning to move to Windows 8.1 precisely, I wanted to ask how can I preserve his winning streak statistics etc.. Please let me know..
It is interesting that the WEI is removed from the "System" screen in Win 8.1 RTM. But if the game explorer has been enabled as outlined in this thread (and elsewhere on the forum), a WEI rating is shown in the game explorer. And it seems to be accurate, or at least matches the WEI value as displayed in Win 8 RTM. So, it may be that WEI is yet another something that is there but not shown for this new version of windows.
I'm lost in all these forums. I just registered to be able to thank you all for fixing one of the most glaring deficiencies of Win8. I used this link that someone posted; seems to work fine, and hopefully isn't spyware.
