I'm at work... did't have time to get through all the treads (page 5)... About the Activation, has anyone tried the MAK key?
That's quite an old version of the Connector, so I'm surprised it works. They updated it in November. Is it possible that those who downloaded the two files early on got different files? Ones that work? I notice in the script someone posted above, which is not in the RAR, that the original pre-copy versions of the files (I realize they're being renamed in the copy) are: %~dp0pkeyconfig-office.xrm-ms %~dp0tokens.dat Odd, anyway.
%~dp0 is variable for current path (at least in win7) and yes it could be stripped, but i intentionaly put them there "so nothing can go wrong" i guess it still goes something wrong for some reason!
I say: Check the activation script and check for all the files paths to check if they are there. It wasn't working with me cause of that.
@Ruixtuh: When it wasn't working for you, how wasn't it working? Were you being asked for a key from Word, or was it just an error in the script? I've tried manually and now with the script, and there are no errors in either. I've also tried with both the RAR files and the ones I had from Beta 2, but if you want to PM me or post a link for your files, I'd certainly be happy to try them. If you used a public key (on the theory the key matters, which I don't think it does, as long as it was used previously), it might help to know which one.
Here's how I got it working and my theory of why it didn't work. Before ever installing 4730, I backed up my activated tokens and pkeyconfig files from Beta 2. However, the key I had used back then to activate Beta 2, while a MAK, had since exceeded its number of activations. It wasn't an unlimited key, like MS eventually made available; it was one of the first leaked keys that worked for people on that first day, but I do recall people saying that it no longer worked for them shortly thereafter. It activated my Beta 2, so I never bothered to change it. I think my system was polluted by having used that key for Beta 2 even though I wasn't attempting to use it again with 4730. It wasn't something in the two files (because I gave up trying to use them eventually, and used the ones here), so it must have been something in the Registry. Until I uninstalled 4730, reinstalled B2, and then activated B2 using an unlimited key (I used the CT443 one), this mystery Registry pollution persisted. I know this because as soon as I then uninstalled B2 and reinstalled 4730, and used CT443 key to activate -- along with the fresh pair of files -- I could run Word and all apps for the very first time. This probably would have worked with any pair of files you guys provided. I think it was the Registry that did me in, and unfortunately, there's nothing for that short of putting B2 back on temporarily with a proper key.
I have one confirmation that really after installing and uninstalling public beta, 4730 activates without any problems
Yes, but it feels more like a release candidate, even though it's too early for that (estimates are that it will release to manufacturing in April). The "Send a Smile" "Send a Frown" applets are gone, so MS is definitely thinking they're in the final stretches. Does anyone know if this went to the private Office testing group? It's a little bit odd to me that it's in this all-in-one Select DVD form.
the all in one selectable dvd is the same style as my 2007 enterprise edition. i believe there will be a 2010 enterprise edition as well
The Office 2007 is provided as OEM in many Sistems witht a OEM Key and Activated, wait a OEM Systems with Office 2010 installed to extract the OEM Serial and Certificate ( similar to Windows 7 OEM activation )
