That is certainly not the case. It cannot be activated against the "server" that has been mentioned because the "server" is not running with a KMS Host Key. If the idea that it is running a KMS Emulator is correct, it would explain perfectly why it is able to activate Office 2013 on Windows 7 and not Windows 8. As previous users have stated, when Office 2013 Host Keys are made available next week, we should have some legitimate servers to activate against (hopefully).

okay in doing more reading if we have win 8 pro activated via a retail lic key and we want to use office 2013 once a autokms type thing comes (if it does) does that mean we can not because we are using a legit retail key and we would have to switch to a kms activation on win 8 itself?? or would we be able to still use a retail win 8 with a kms office 2013???

You can run retail activated Windows and install volume licensed Office 2013 without problems.

I'm looking forward to this Nov 6 as well. Hopefully, somebody will make a separate thread about this new toy. I have OFFICE 15 VL and Retail version. I need to activate it in my win8 and i'm happy.

I lost my activation of Office 2013

I just lost my activation of Office 2013 after opening a Word document sent to me that was attached to an e-mail.

Luckily, I had backed up the tokens.dat and data.dat files.

After replacing them in their original folder, my Office 2013 activation returned to normal.

:busted_red: Everyone should back up their tokens.dat and data.dat files to a safe place. NOW! :busted_red:

One important thing: Because Win 8 activation and Office 2013 activation information is recorded in those two files, there was no effect on Win 8 - it is still activated.

Just to clarify, this Office 2013 in Win 8 wasn't KMS activated?

    It is really confusing...
Maybe some MOD could split/create 2 new threads
1- Office 2013 activation in Windows 8 only
    2- Office 2013 activation Win XP/Vista/Win7 (not for Windows8)
    Just a suggestion...

If you are going to use ZWT's keygen as your KMS Host, yes, you can activate office 2013 only if you are on Win 7.
On Win 8, office 2013 uses windows software protection platform that in turn uses a different version of kms request/response than ZWT's keygen.

XP and Vista is not supported by Microsoft Office 2013. Only Win 7 and Win 8. (And Win Server 2008 R2 and Win Server 2012 from server platform)

Need some help pls: DonĀ“t know why the Key ended with GVGXT is rejected, others are accepted and the KMS activation fails reporting ERROR CODE:0xC004C003, could be that I'm trying to install a different kind of edition? The current one is Office ProPlus MSNDR Retail. Thanks for your reply...

I installed Office 2013 VL on Win7 to one computer and the mini-kms server to another running win7. Hard to believe its that simple to activate the new office with the old mini-kms. well not all that hard to believe, but I would have thought MS would have done something different in the office program itself. *Shrug*. Anyway, now to try something different. Run win7 in a vm within win8 and then install office 2013 into the vm and activate from the other computer lol Im bored
