Hi ian82 This post concerns the updates MSE 4..... & not the systematic critical. You can create a post with what is the best anti virus & there to develop your arguments & free appraisals. Are you dig much criticize the posts of others.
No Anti-virus program is perfect, but I've used MSE since beta & never had a problem, but I also don't just use MSE by itself either, I use on-demand scanners such as HitmanPro & Malwarebytes, but still never had anything get through. Common sense also plays a part in staying safe
I currently run Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit version that have been activated with DAZ Loader. And It works just fine and I can download updates from Windows Update without any problems. But I am interested in installing this security suite from Microsoft the MSE 4. But I have heard that it only works on genuine Windows 7. Can I install it or do I run the risk of the installer deactivating my copy of Windows as it detects that it is not genuine?
Are you running Windows 8 (CP or other) by chance? MSE refuses to install on Windows 8. Windows 8 includes it's own version of MSE called Windows Defender, and all releases of MSE, starting from the last beta build of MSE v4 onward, refuse to install on Windows 8. Yes, they are the same thing deep down underneath, but perhaps there are other subtle differences besides the version-number differences they use between MSE and Defender.
Nothing special at the moment, no real changes that can been seen from the current release, it's basically a beta version.
Changelog: Uninstallation of old versions of Microsoft Security Essentials in the installer. No other difference with 4.0.1540.0.
Not running the Pre-release myself but it's nice to know MSE is getting better features however small they may be
