I did a bunch of machines, but issues came up with several machines and VMs that I am barely beginning to understand how to resolve. Given that I am helping several people, family, cousins and few small non profit organizations, its a lot for me to handle - but commitments. PS: For Assisstive Tech thing, whats the slight difference? What do I have to minimally enable on W7/ W8 OS? Is there any small difference in steps compared to the gatherosstate > Genuine Ticket method?
GWX_Control_Panel and later Never10 stopped the forced upgrade completely as far as I could tell. At least it did on all the Windows 7 computers I "administer". But, as is the usual case, YMMV.
I just upgraded a newly installed and activated Windows 7 Ultimate on a new home built PC to Windows 10 Pro by the Assistive Tech method with no problems other than having to download Windows 10 when I already had an ISO. It activated right away.
When you have upgraded using the assistive tech support site, you did it by a downloaded setup file not the iso. The normal iso/mct upgrade or gatherosstate shortcut work without any need for assistive tools enabled. The free Upgrade to get a HWID never stopped working.
