Which version of Windows 8.1 do I need for activation using the Toolkit? Core/Pro or Pro VL I normally use the modded bios for Win7, but from what I understand, you can't use that method for Win8
Would guess the best is Pro. No need to take a VL version, as the installed key decides the licensing. When VL Key is installed Pro can be activated by the Toolkit.
FOR THE RECORD: In Win 8/8.1 Family nearly all editions can be activated via KMS by the Toolkit, even Core (with CoreSingleLanguage...) and ProfessionalWMC, only Limitation: Core and ProfessionalWMC need to be reactivated every 45 days whereas the timespann for Pro is 180 days .
Not the only one. 1. Only 30 days (Win 8.0) / 45 days (Win 8.1). 2. You can activate only against an emulator, real KMS servers deny activation. 3. These systems will NEVER try to renew their activations automatically.
In my opinion, Win8.1-pro-WMC is the most suitable / functional editions for HomePC, Win8.1-ent does only have the win-to-go which is not important than WMC... BUT what is the difference between 45 & 180 days reactivated... Does MTK automatically reactivate them? or should I run the MTK on every 45 days?
This is an interesting phenomenon; there exist gVLK for Core and ProfessionalWMC, but a real KMS will refuse activating them, as Carlos stated. Nevertheless the Emulators activate them for 30/45 days. MTKs EZ-Activator will reactivate them regularly . So far this way is not closed by MS...
