Updated fine here on HP g-60. Odd though that updater wants to install updates for Office '07 and '10 when I'm running '13. Chose not to update and hide those.
Yepp!!! Same problem here..Got 2 Office 2010 updates...although i have Office 2013 retail installed....So i just went to "Change Windows Update Settings" and un-ticked "Updates for other Microsoft products"....Then i got the 9 updates which are meant only for Windows 8.
Javy, Office 2013 does not uninstall Office 2010. It keeps both installations active. That is the reason for the updates. Moonrak
Since I started this thread, I thought I would add some recent developments. Today I went to the Windows Download Center and downloaded KB2770917. Turns out there were 8 separate .msu files including KB2770917.msu. So I proceeded to install them one at a time. Some required rebooting after install. I did that for each one that wanted a reboot. I saved KB2770917 for last. Although the first 7 did complete the installation without any errors, that 8th one, KB2770917 got to 15% and stopped. Interestingly, windows update now tries for a second time if an update fails to install properly. The second attempt failed too. Computer restarted and update again tried to install the update and failed again. Finally it reverted and rebooted. NOW, when I use Internet Explorer AND click on a link from within Internet Explorer, IE crashes. I tried Chrome and it works normally. So something happened to IE10 so that it is trashed.
I also have an HP G61 here without issues. If there was any previous install of office prior to installing 2013, it will see instances even if you choose to have them removed during the 2013 install. So I think that is why it continues to use them. Could be shared resources or something along that line that 2013 decides to keep. I haven't dug into it too much, I just let my l33ch pipe take whatever MS throws at it haha
I have exactly the same situation. IE 10 crashes when i click a link. Windows 8 is realy a beta version. I think i am going back to windows 7.
legit pro key i bought. then used free wmc key from ms. all updated installed fine for me. windows 8 64 bit
I'm wondering if the people having problems are the same people who used that data.dat method to activate Pro WMC without activating pro first.
KB2770917 changes my Windows drive from C:\ to X:\ I could not boot into Windows. Luckily I was able to use system restore. I attempted three times to install KB2770917 all attempts changed OS drive letter to X. Any ideas on why, or how to fix?
i updated yesterday, now decor8 meet some error. i cant change start screen any more, it only get a blue screen . window run slowly.sak
@slave77 Dreamspark then Media Center upgrade. All other updates installed fine. The C to X drive letter change has happened to others, not specifically to this update but in other instances, and not only on Windows 8.
X64 Win8 ProWMC on a S7S(not the "/build" model). Pro - kms activated. WMC - free upgrade from MS. Running a fairly vanilla install, no tweaks, hacks, mods, reg edits. All updates install fine. IE10 has no issues.
No problem here with the updates. All 26 CPU's still up and running fine. Will post after I do the updates on the registers.
As mentioned in the link posted by moonrak - I disabled all non-m$oft services and then ran the 2770917 update. Happy to report that it worked. The update installed fine. Then re-nabled the non-m$oft services and all is well. Looks like some third party installs have services that interfere with the update. Which explains why some people are having trouble with 2770917 and others are not. It depends on what else you have installed on your system...
OK, Here is the procedure - try it and see if it works for you: Run msconfig check "hide all M$oft services" click "Disable all" then ok Install update 2770917 After all is done - run msconfig again, and enable the services previously disabled.
