hmmm... 13th Oct update release looks kinda lite (@5 updates). so from that, what are we suppossed to make of the earlier bundle of "leaked" updates????? .... install win7 RTM and install the 5 updates from MS and thats it ... so the "leaked" bundle means nothing?
lol ... I never installed the "leaked" updates ... because I knew many of them could be beta or test updates ... I waited for the ms release. That said ... I just wonder if any of those leaked updates are in fact worthwhile, as maybe ms just planning releasing in stages up to and beyond 22nd Oct.... the 5 updates may just be a drop in the ocean
A lot of the earlier leaked updates are hotfixes, hotfixes ARE NOT generally released 99.9 percent of the time. There is nothing wrong with hotfixes, but Microsoft only releases major updates and leaves the hotfixes to the Service Packs. There are literally over a hundred updates since Service Pack 2 for Vista. I know as I have them all (up until the end of July when I installed Windows 7 RTM). Thats NOT including Defender updates or superceded updates. The same goes for XP, there were hundreds between SP2 and SP3.
@burfadel ... yep .. I downloaded the leaked updates to have a look ...and yeah most are hotfixes @30 off. looks like about 4 out of 5 of the updates released by ms earlier, are in fact the same as the ones in the leaked pack. anyway .. gonna install the leaked hotfixes now, no pain, no gain
KB974431 ... also appeared in my windows updates. The only significant update ms posted ... it mainly targets Explorer.exe; WMP12; and Media Center .... with updated exe's and dll's together with updated manifest and security Catalog files. Incidentally, that update was also in the "leaked" update pack.
What about changing the method to list the updates in first post? Because you correctly enumerate them (now from 1 to 10), but in the future when an hotfix will replace an old one, you will have to change all the numbers that are after that. So, it could be better to list them for example by date, in my opinion, so that you don't have this problem. What do you think Johny? P.S: sorry for my English!
Thread Updated: October 14th, 2009 Announcement: Microsoft Windows 7 Updates Compatibilty Center has been updated today. A newly reported update has been tested, reported as safe, and added. Credits to Pissa. This update is (KB974431). For more information, you're kindly requested to check the main page. @Pissa First of all, sorry for my late reply. As for your reported update, it was downloaded and tested, and thereby, added to the center.. Accordingly, genuine thanks for reporting an official update that might not be delivered via automatic updates in the meantime.. That's a +1 rep.. As for your suggestion, we though of it and decided that it would be better to add another dating system that split each update bundle according to the month during which it was released.. In other words, expect a new bundle titled November 2009 Updates by November. This shall clarify things even more.. Towards the end, I would like to earnestly thank all those who are interested in pushing this project forward.. Sincerely..
