this looks awesome for when it RTM's

    but...

ohh the pains of trying out beta software thats not public beta. The buttons related to password changing / policys are non functional. So as of right now since the builds installed beyond 30 days, all my passwords for non admin account has expired. only way to access system is by using GUEST account or physically there.

Any way to bypass the install size limit? I have a teeny tiny experimental server with only a 40GB drive.

Just noticed that this OS need 160GB drive. Is there way to bypass it? My Vaio TZ has only 120GB, damn. Whole point of this that Windows 7 is still too clumsy on this machine (1,8" HDD...) and i need something more lighter.

And why on earth would you think of Microsoft.Windows.Home.Server.2010 for this task?

Server editions had always better performance than home user bfu friendly editions.

You can bypass the size limit by exporting the install.wim of home server into a windows 7 disc, just like you would do for creating a 32/64bit AIO. Then it only requires 8 gigs like windows 7.

To do it manually run this command from Deployment Tools Command Prompt (comes with WAIK).
Imagex /export "WHS install.wim location" 1 "windows 7 install.wim location" "Windows Server HOMEPREMIUM"

If you need more info just look up a guide on how to make a windows 7 AIO disc.

this is Windows Home Server 2010, not Windows Server 2008 R2. keys are not interchangable

Absolutely agreed, but NOT HOME Server, that is very specific version to do specific job, it has very little with real server OS

Is anyone able to connect a client to the server?

My connector software keeps bugging out halfway the installation.

I think my install might mis the RemoteDesktopClientConfig.exe :(

If you're having trouble installing the client package, when it gets to the end and fails, though you still have the icons on the desktop, the solution is to open task manager and kill the installer. All of the functions still work and you can access the dashboard just fine.

Is my Domain Controller going to bitch about this if I join it to the domain, or will it screw with my network in any way?
