Only VLK (volume license key) for volume edition. KMS come to play with Windows Vista, Office 2010, Windows Server 2008 and later.
This is the pre-KMS era. Using a Volume (or "Corporate") key with a Volume media (XP has different media for OEMs, Volume and FPP/Retail), it is activated instantly. OEM media need an OEM key plus the manufacturer string in the BIOS (SLP 1.0). Note: There are no generic/public Volume keys for XP, and a good share of the leaked ones have been blocked (like the all-popular FCKGW one). Using OEM is a better option. Tools: VLK and OEMBIOS changer in this forum.
