I have two Dell Optiplex 3010s (Windows 7) with the same specs. One is experiencing hardware issues unrelated to the hard drive and I want to simply pop out the hard drive from the malfunctioning unit and put it in the other. I've done something similar with a laptop, but this was a temporary swap and I just needed to change configuration of one laptop to use an external display (display was broken). I don't recall having any issues with Windows deactivating/reactivating in this case. Should I expect any problems activating Windows permanently when I make the swap? Will I have issues with other software like Office?
