Modded BIOS from backup?

    The BIOS for the notebook I'm using is not published online anywhere. I was wondering if it is possible to dump the entire BIOS from the notebook I have and then mod that one. Some sources I have read said that it is not possible, although I am not sure if that was a reference to the tool being discussed or all BIOS in general. Thanks in advance.

    Notebook: Lenovo Y580
    BIOS: 5DCN90WW(V8.01)

    if Phoenix it might brick and not work.. recovery method needs study.

    The status in PhoenixTool 2.12 reads EFI/Insyde, if this is relevant.
