Are you referring to Vmware Workstation 10.0.0 BIOS build 385d if so it is not for VMWare Player 5 or 6 you need to download VMWare player 10.0.0 or Workstation.
I have tried to patch VMWare workstation 10 and it doesn't seem to work. I see in the first post it is not designed for VMWare...anyone had a luck? Have seen a few posts with Dell bios which I am looking for but is there an installer for it? Thanks
It is designed for VMWare, what else would it be for? This whole thread is about modding the BIOS in VMWare VMs. However, the links in the first post are for Workstation v9 and below for now. If you read posts from the past few pages in this thread, there are some links for modded BIOSes for Workstation v10.
Thanks for clarifying. But how do I install modded BIOS for Workstation 10? Is there an easy way? Thanks
You can either insert the modded bios file into vmware-vmx.exe using a resource editor or you can add it via editing the .vmx file example, bios440.filename = "D:\Virtual Machines\361h_advent21.rom"
I've inserted the line but it still asks me to activate windows? Do I need to install any certificate etc to activate it properly or just the bios file should do? Sorry to be pain but you might have guessed by now I am not very good with activation stuff in vmware. Thanks
I've searched.. after using the automated tool to mod, how do we then add cert? Editing post for clarity: I own a Dell and I'm running (genuine) W7. Wanted to run XP on VMWARE. Using GRTMHOEM_EN. I ran VMware_Man&Auto_Selector_v361H and chose Dell (no special reason). What else do I have to do to ensure XP will be activated? Thanks!
Thank you for the replies, and the details. I don't know why I assumed that this method is easier then just using a pre-activated ISO. Although this would be interesting to learn, don't have the time now. Thanks for your help!!
Well have fun trying your so called pre-activated cd it will probably be a vlk version and if not already blacklisted the key will eventually will be
Tell me about it... The truth is that I would take the time to figure it all out, but right now I just need it for a short time - testing a few scripts to see how well they play out on XP. Already got burned by skipping the "" for directories with spaces...
