i need to correct my self here... this is indeed the case and after update you cant install v1 anymore, so i guess v2 must indeed be "latest", even if its not build wise.
seriously... this is too much of a guessing game. the first round of these updates that came out weeks ago had real legitimate purpose and description. these have done nothing but cause problems with versions of things, etc. just wait it out ... seriously. you may pay the price by having to do a full reinstall, and for those with legitimate activation, it's just not worth it until someone explains them, or they're on windows update.

Just installed them. They're digitally signed so they are safe as was said. Also I have Nod32 and Symantec AV Corporate none picked up anything, so as far as malware goes I can say pretty sure that they're clean. Also confirming they have no impact on activation whatsoever. As for what they do, I noticed that only 11 of the 20 installed, leaving the other 9, which were upped 2 weeks ago, in place. The start logo HAS indeed changed. It remains as bright but now the light's edges are no longer static, they move in a wave pattern, I guess this was made so that people could more readily notice if their Windows is indeed loading or has frozen. Build version has also changed to 16397. Again doesn't look relevant... More to come if I discover anything.
most likely its v2 that will get to WU. Its also quiet a bit of size difference (~0.5mb for x64), so there must be some more changes (or less in some aspects, depends how you look on it ). Im currently installing all this updates, once they start to get to WU, i intend to reformat anyway and then go with whatever i get there...
i doubt these will show up until october... makes no sense though, a lot of people have legitimate win7 installs now...
I think you'll see quite a few of these updates hitting WU. Just because there leaked does not make them non-legit. Edit: Anyone have the Complete Updates? There's suppose to be 24 if i'm understanding correctly.
odd , im running a fully legit Windows 7 Ultimate from MSDN - its 22nd August and theres no new updates available hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
ah ok , so it would be early hours tomorrow morning (23rd) for me then lol Didnt think of the time differences hahahaha Thanks Mate
Honestly I dont see the point about people jumping for updates. I only install when its on windows update / RTM of a SP leaks. a SP is all i get slightly tickled about...
^ but it does makes sense to install leaked updates, to see what they do (speed/ break activation, etc) at least in a test machine
