In the last months this problem has become somewhat common especially in Ms Word 2007. Well, here you a simple solution.

Delete Key Word Data from Registry

Most of the options used by Word are stored in the Key Word Data from Registry. An frequent step to fix problems is to delete the above key. Next time Word is started, the key Word Data will be rebuilt using the default configuration

For Word 2002 & 2003, in order to see these options, click on Options in the Tools menu.

For Word 2007, in order to see these options, click on Microsoft Office button, and then click on Word Options.

In order to delete the key Word Data from registry, do the following:

    1. Exit from all the Office programs.
    2. Click on Start and on Run, write "regedit" and click on Accept.
    3. Look for the following subkeys according to the version being used:
    Word 2002:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft Office\10.0\Word\Data
    • Word 2003:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft Office\11.0\Word\Data
    • Word 2007:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft Office\12.0\Word\Data

    4. Click on Data, then click on Export from File menu.
    5. Name the file as Wddata.reg and save it to desktop.
    6. Click on Delete in the Edit menu, and click on Yes.
    7. Exit the Registry Editor.
    8. Start Word.

Hi guys. Note sure if this helps but I found deleting the data registry didn't work. Mine started working again once I deleted the normal.dot file (Vista Business Word 2003 SP3)

    Cheers
