LOL there is this little thing on the setup, called get updates. Any fixes (KB updates) will be fetched at install time. As long as it's RTM base, ie as long as you can get updates and have activation, you are always going to have to apply updates, service packs, etc... an OS is never a complete piece of software, so i don't see the big deal. Getting a Direct MSDN link can be an insurance that the ISO was not tampered, but as mentioned most RTM ISOs have passed the Hash checksum test, so they are not modified. Use an anti-virus if you want to be safe, most AVs allow you to monitor and control network traffic but even then you may never be safe... heck even OpenBSD has security holes and it's the safest mainstream OS out there.
I remember in one of Microsoft's presentations they said that one of Windows 7's key features will be the fact that the DVD will have both 32bit and 64bit version on 1 disk. But the downloads here are separate for each version. So something doesn't add up.
I am just wondering if with the msdn technet release we will see a fix for the whole taskbar autohide lag bug.
overall i think that vista was very unstable and every one that legitly got vista should automanicly get a free copy..... but noo microsoft want to make more money
Too right even with sp2, its still not upto xp standards of stability. 4:38am in seattle, i wonder what time they will go with downloads.
I checked so far only old stuff is on the Technet. Let's hope micrsoft releases an image with the updates applied. I think we will know for sure in a couple of hours, maybe until midnight in europe.
it's not a problem to integrate all the new updates to original .16385 iso, only takes 5/10 minutes ... You can follow by example the updated BubuXp's tutorial here on the forum or use a simple batch file for automation of the process ... the new tutorial is very complete about all kind of integrations such language packs ,updates, drivers.
if the bandwith available for the RC and Beta are any indicators it is going to be better to just snag a key and grab the ISO from other sources.
