Original Microsoft Retail Releases List - Please Contribute! Hi. The recent need for me to find an untouched Windows XP Pro SP3 iso in my native language has developed into a new project of mine, which is, trying to get / make an archive of the releases that Microsoft pulled from MSDN due to "possible legal issues" regarding the java code in them. There's a not-extensive software list of what has been removed from MSDN here, but I'll make a list of it below so it's easier to tag what's already done or not. Notice that I'm mainly focusing on the Operating Systems / Office / Developement Tools. With the removal from these releases from MSDN, all the info regarding them was removed and bits of it (release date, filename, checksums) can be found on various places on the internet. If you can add some info or have the releases listed below, please reply or send me a PM. ATM I'm @ work so I can't really add what I already have but I'll do it as soon as possible. I found out it's way easier to maintain a spreadsheet than to try and format it in the topic and make it pretty as well, so here's an alpha with some info I dug on the internet: New Version 28/07/2013 2.0: hxxps://docs.google.com/file/d/0B4NPJTxYX5ameVRCbUJYMTktUTA/edit?usp=sharing If you feel you can add substantially more info to it, PM or shoot me an email xeon4d at google's email service.com If you just have a tiny correction or addition PM/Email me as well and I'll add credit. I'll update the topic when I get more stuff added.
There are already some threads like this, but they are usually started by newcomers to the site and most people can't be bothered to contribute because thread starter gives up soon after and it fades away.
Believe me... I'm not a newcomer nor I won't give up. (See the join date? 5 years lurking...) Even tho it's a bit sad that there is 0 contributions from people... I've been finding more info and checking out images manually and I'm compiling the information on a Excel sheet which will eventually be put into a google docs account / attached here so everyone can profit from whatever information I can get. What I could really use is someone with a MSDN account and willing to give proper checksums on older releases still available there and preferably older releases no longer available on MSDN. But oh well, I'll keep myself entertained mind you.
Code: Visual SourceSafe 6.0d (English) ISO|English|Release Date: 3/29/2006|16 MB File Name: en_vss_60d.iso SHA1: 31f9ee43c5208fcb7a901da2200360e958d5b219 That is the only one on your list that is in MSDN Subscriber Downloads. Win3.1 is there, but Arabic not English.
Reading the first contribution here reminds me to vote for a "D'OH" button beside the "THANKS" one . Spoiler
Thanks for the contribution EFA11. Please keep em coming! Also, I'm doing a spreadsheet version on the side, but sadly I can't post the links here. When I can, I'll move all the stuff from here to the spreadsheet (google docs) and then I can add collaborators who want to help!
I can see you have been a member for 5 years and contributed 2 posts in that time. Yet you are sad other people don't contribute to your one post?
Urie, thanks for the contribution, but that server is mostly a mirror of BetaArchive and the ISO's on both can't really be verified as it's known they have some non-untouched iso's there. If I didn't contribute is because most of the stuff that runs around here is over my head or I had nothing helpful to add. At least I didn't "contribute" to other's topics in the so very helpful way you just did huh </sarcasm>
Meanwhile, since I can't still post links here, if any of you wants to see current progress and has an account on BetaArchive, just search for my threads on the Microsoft Operating Systems subforum. I currently have the following info for every release up to and including Windows 2.11 in a XLSX that you can download / edit: Name;Build;Channel;Type;Date(MSDN/Release);Filenames;Label;Timestamps;SHA-1,CRC32,MD5,AutoCRC,Size and Notes Hopefully during the next couple of months I'll be able to fill it with every retail release up to Windows 2000 or maybe XP.
I've tried... a lot of variations but I couldn't go thru... maybe I was forgetting one (since I had so many links in the 1st post originally). Here, lemme try again: New Version of the Microsoft Retail Releases List (Last Update: 28/07/2012 2.0): hxxps://docs.google.com/file/d/0B4NPJTxYX5ameVRCbUJYMTktUTA/edit?usp=sharing Heh... now it works, go figure. I'm gonna update the first post then.
