Yep. I've officially REMOVED both MSFN and Eclipse Community from my bookmark lists. They are both way way WAY too "XP-Centric" for me. Sure, replace XP with 7, but to me it's the same exact "backwards mentality". I've decided it was just time to move on from BOTH of them.
I still like Windows 8, but I'll use it for one more year. Then I'm going with Windows 10 LTSC 2019. I already have the machine setup.
You'll be happy with LTSC 2019. Vast improvement over everything older. Once you keep the "fluff" under control, it really will outrun anything older! And that "fluff" is something that MDL is better at discussing (not great, but better). The mods CLEARLY do not like those threads (and this forum is HEAVILY moderated in comparison to MSFN and EC), but it's like "Field of Dreams" - If you build it, they will come. There is a "need" for keeping older OS's alive, I myself use LTSC 2021, but there also is a BALANCE - to me, all of those XP (and 7!) forums can shut down forever and I'll not lose any sleep. But as always, To Each Their Own.
Dave-H, one of the MSFN moderators posted on TPX Forums that xper is not responding to messages (as if he ever does). Also Eclipse has been down for quite a bit too, just after K4Sum1 did maintenance on the iste and sped it up. The longer they stay off, the community will just dissipate. As LTSC-Ten said, the vintage community has been propping up Windows XP and New Moon Roytam1 development WAY past its prime. Even the e3k-etc fellow, who had a great thing going with Firefox for Windows 7 and 8, broke down and catered to the XP mob. Sad all around.
I could be wrong, but as a several-times-per-day daily visitor over there for the past 4 or 5 years, I think the security updates they did around March/April timeframe protected them from the PHP incidents. EC was down a good week before MSFN was affected. EC is definitely PHP incident (they cited it themselves when they showed the "here's a rat" graphic). I pulled the Wayback Machine history just yesterday and I was hoping the pre-March/April views would show what VERSION of Invision Board they were on. I couldn't find it. What I was curious of is how OLD the Invision Board software was before the March/April update. Are there OTHER Invision Board forums we could check to see if they are down or not?
You gotta love how a thread whose last post was two years ago, tomorrow, could have JUST been posted now...lol https://forum.legacydev.org/viewtopic.php?style=4&t=195
That's funny. And I sure recall who ArcticFoxie is, lol. Shhh. I have reason to suspect that one of the "D Boys" visits MDL. Shirley, I jest! I subscribe to the theory of there only being 16 psychological personalities. So it's actually very easy to find online doppelgangers. And it's often Human Nature to think the doppelgangers are "one person".
Oh, I'm sure that it did not escape you that the website you linked is protected by a Cloudflare alternative. That is the whole issue here! MSFN and EC both continue to think they can survive in this day and age without any Cloudflare or alternative "gate". Heck, even MDL has one! These "gates" are ESSENTIAL to survival in our "AI Rising" environment. I'm sure you are also aware of the "user agent vocalization" that r3dfox does that sends the F Word to various "gates". Um, well, how's that working out? It's not 1999 anymore.
