Why is my ISO 800MB larger than source ISO after removing all apps and components, and only integrating latest CU and NVIDIA driver? I applied changes for cleanup before rebuilding too EDIT - And is still offering Home as a SKU choice after choosing Pro in MSMG EDIT 2 - lol, and is saying 30GB HDD is not large enough, needs 38GB.... dafuq? I'm obviously doing something wrong in MSMG
Selecting pro doesn't delete the other index When you delete Home now and rebuild the wim it will significantly decrease in size. And all actions will be pending and really be done when installing.
Ah I have to select Pro and also delete Home separately? I didn't see that option, which section is it in? (I've not used this MSMG before, n00b atm )
Export-WindowsImage -CompressionType maximum -SourceImagePath C:\ToolKit-v7.2\DVD\sources\large_install.wim -SourceIndex 1 -DestinationImagePath C:\ToolKit-v7.2\DVD\sources\install.wim
I always found that EXPORTING the index from the install.wim making a new install.wim makes it a lot smaller. Do a reset base just before the export. But the process of the export seems to somehow compact the empty space which was made during all the modifications. Give it a try! Edit: I click reply and see GodHand and s1ave77 said the same thing but better...
"Rebuilding" = exporting all indexes to new install.wim with max compression dism. MrMagic did that. Using wimlib imagex won't save 800 MB (only when compressing to esd/recovery), he has serviced one of two indexes and then it grows in size. Exporting/rebuilding cleans up dism action leftovers.
Not sure whats going on with my system or it just doesnt work with the iso files from the MediaCreationTool What ive tried so far: go 1-3 to extract the iso file, okay seems logical enough. Get plastered by a million access denied because reasons, whatever ill do its thing regardless. Aah, after waiting around for 10-15 minutes, i get a nice extraction failed. oh well - nothing i do with the mediacreationtool iso will change this. go to 1-1, no install.wim found, makes sense. go to 2-1 - stuff happens, woo! - time to wait about four hamburgers. Oh more access denied, the joy of mediacreationtool i suppose Well, at least it said "Finished converting windows store ESD image to WIM image" Should be good to go then huehueuheheh go to 1-1 Oh, cannot find boot.wim in sources folder Check sources folder in \DVD There aint one. Ok much success converting, a file search for *.wim didnt return anything either Must have been denied Bottom line, seems it doesnt work with ISO's from the Media Creation Tool In case someone was trying to use the official ISO's to do this.
