I am using the dism method.

Unless I'm understanding wrong, using a later CU than 3324 is not an issue?

So I recreated image using 3324 per the changelog for 13.6, and the error is still there

Does anyone think this project will ever be resurrected? I know someone said MSMG is taking a break for health, family and farm, but that was what, 8 months ago?

youre removing something you shouldnt or toolkit could mess up something if you used it against unsupported os.

if i was you i would use toolkit against supported os then test if everythings working the way it should if it does i would install update to get newer os version and if anything got reinstalled after update i would remove it manually or even use cbs enum to remove some unwanted packages.

at some point toolkit surely will be resurected, msmg needs more time he said he doesnt even have pc in place (farm) hes now.

myslef im on 22h2 22621.2823 win 11 and even if toolkit supported 24h2 i wouldnt update as not interested in backup app or copilot or remote desktop lol

3324 is the last supported OS patch level, from July 2023.

Privacy setting page crashes. All versions after 3324 also crash. I rarely ever use the page, it was someone else who I created an image for that told me about it.

Installing updates not only re-installs removed components, it makes massive changes to the OS configuration; Services, tasks, registry. Too much work for me to go remove everything again and track down and revert all the changed stuff. I find it quicker and easier to just create a new MSMG ISO every few months and do a clean install.

I looked at NTLite; Very expensive. A$80 for initial license, then A$40 - A$50 per year to keep it current (depending on exchange rate). The free version is so crippled it seems to be a waste of time, but then I only spent a few hours testing it.

21H2 LTSC 19044.4046. I too am not interested in Copilot or backup. Generally not interested in pretty much anything in Windows, which is why I remove almost everything.

I wish I could get motivated to take a serious stab at Linux. :)

Linux is not the system that will inspire you. Rather for enthusiasts.
The problems you are facing are not entirely clear. I also have Win10_22H2_19045.3324 and have zero problems.

I did - for 1 day. It irritated me so much I formatted the drive and went back to Windows 10.
It was early days but it was, and IMHO, still is, an unmitigated disaster. It's not an OS - it's a virus :)

The long list of reasons would put you to sleep, so I won't bore you with the detail.
Suffice it to say I despise the direction Windows is taking, and I hate having to update to a newer OS every 6 months. I prefer consistency and stability (cough - Windows = stable - not likely)

I have over a dozen PCs to support across 5 locations. Having to deal with the endless stream of "x doesn't work" when they install some windows or program update was driving me insane. So I standardized an image and rolled that out to everyone.

Now, it's only when I make silly mistakes, like not checking the privacy settings page before rolling it out that burns me.

I don't recall the last time Windows released a feature that I wanted or needed.

I ran a hobby ISP back in the dial up days.... Yes, I am that old :)
I was using Slackware Linux. Loved it!
Problem is now most distros come with as much bloat as Windows.
Linux definitely has some things that I hate, but not as many as Windows.

Each to his/her own. I respect your choices.

For me, I will not use any form of mobile technologies. But then, I don't leave home much so I don't need them.

Yes, thanks, I saw that at the time

He is certainly under no obligation to keep going with this project. His health and family are the important things.

We can all do something to help him...

We can all mentalize and send him the good energy of our intentions and desires that he and everyone in his family are well and strong, we can ask "the Whole", "God", "Allah", what you believe be the creative source of everything, that is with them and this same energy, power that is in us too, will be with them, strengthening them and soon it will be here with us.

I really don't know where he lives, but if I had the means to go there and help, I would definitely go, besides enjoying dealing with these things you mentioned, it would be an excellent opportunity to learn another culture, exchange good energy and in addition to helping them , also being able to become a better person, sharing the table, the effort, the gratitude for being here and learning from others is much more than rewarding.

    Regards
