...It would be possible to add another item in MSMG TOOLKI? to integrate office 2016 retail not vl but the retail office C2R that contains files cab,i know that is works with opk tool but is a sugestion....
Classic Shell is not an option, but LTSB does have search with no Cortana. Personally, I love Cortana, but I do make stripped down homebrews for people, and keeping Search is pretty much required. It enables a person to press Start, and start typing the name of an app or a program to have it appear in the menu instead of clicking through start. I personally use it on a regular basis when I want to get to a feature quickly, but am not exactly sure of where it is in the menu.
I do not like Classic Shell but StartisBack is nice There are 2 types of "Search". One would be the Search2-Package that is removed by the MSMG Toolkit along with Cortana since it does not work when the Cortana Package is removed. It is possible to disable Cortana without removing the package and continue with the Search from the Start Menu running but the Search2 process consumes a lot of RAM so I like to remove it and use StartisBack instead. The other type would be the Windows Search Service that is used for File Explorer search indexing. Without it StartisBack works but it takes too long to find the results. Classic Shell seems to have its own process for indexing.
Personally I use Everything (by voidtools) on the Windows key (AutoHotKey + StartKiller). Its the future, the search in Windows is very slow in comparison.
That's what he's saying. If you use Classic Shell, you can disable Search and still don't need to click through Start. You can press Start, start typing and it will find it still. For programs, apps and Control Panel Settings, Classic Shell uses its own fast search which requires no indexing or any memory-consuming service. For searching inside files (their contents) and for Metro PC Settings search, it uses Windows Search. If you want to save memory and improve performance by disabling Search and remove all Cortana related s**te, your Win32 program shortcuts, Metro app shortcuts and Control Panel stuff will still be instantly found by Classic Shell. Why don't you like it?
Why don't I like it? First it resembles the Start Menus of yesteryear which I hated. They are hard to organize, hard to use, and a general PITA. The new Windows 10 start menu is a beautiful thing. It is easy to use, quick, never collapses unexpectedly when I move my mouse, and is just much much better all the way around. When I was using 7 and before I avoided the Start Menu like the plague as it was absolutely useless. I kept all my apps in groups as toolbars essentially having them behave as the new 10 start menu does. Now, I have my apps in groups. I place them over top of each other, and they combine similar to the Android desktop on my phone. Like I said, why would I want to NOT use the Windows 10 Start Menu? It is absolutely fantastic!
Thank you for the explanation! I do not like Classic Shell because it is too overkill for me many customization options that I do not need and also do not like the look of your start menu. In contrast StartisBack is simple and functional and beautiful just install and do not need to tinker on much. But I am reviewing my concepts, I want to see if it is possible to change the skin of the start menu because with Classic Shell I can disable the Search service since I only keep this because of the Start Menu
I agree. I always find it important to keep windows up to date. Especially this days with ransom-ware.
Long time lurker, first time poster. I've using the tool for a few weeks and testing the new images in VM and it's awesome. I am using the current version of the program v7.5 and removing a few components / metro apps like telemetry, 3rd party links, etc. Once I remove the components / metro apps I go to 6->apply changes and 7->to create ISO. The ISO is bigger (4.4GB) than the original Windows 10 CU(4.0GB). Are there ways to make the ISO smaller?
When attempting to mount a Windows 7 SP1 x64 index it gives me a "The syntax of the command is incorrect" error then the toolkit immediately exits.
MSMG, could you move the "Remove Cortana and Search Components" to the advanced section of Windows Components removal, 4 -> 3 -> 2 from the Main Menu? It appears many members want Search, and they can disable Cortana via Registry edits. I for one have a command file I run with registry edits I apply to the mounted registry once I mount the install.wim. I personally like Cortana, but many of the homebrews I create contain search, but have Cortana blocked.
