Hello! I am using Windows 10 LTSB iso, downloaded directly from microsoft a couple days ago file name: 14393.0.160715-1616.RS1_RELEASE_CLIENTENTERPRISE_S_EVAL_X64FRE_EN-US.ISO I used MSMG, in an attempt to remove as many features as possible while still supporting security updates, and being able to play games, these are the only two features I am interested in. For Everything and anything else I run Ubuntu. I read through the last 30 or so pages, hoping to just get some insight, as to what else I should have NOT removed, figured best way was to just dive in and try it, but I got the following message: windows cannot find the microsoft software license terms. make sure the installation sources are valid and restart the installation. here was my creation procedure: 1,1,1/*,y,y - load source 4,1,1,y - remove applications (all metroid already removed) 4,2 - remove default app association (only had xml) 4,3,1 - remove ALL windows components 4,3,2 - remove advanced windows components (ALL except Adobe Flash) 5,4,1 - disable cortana tweak 5,4,4 - enable DISM image cleanup with full resetbase 6,1 - apply, cleanup source images 6,2 - apply, save changes to source images and unmount 7,1 - Target, make a dvd iso image win10lite/win10lite
EDIT: I looked over what I had done carefully, I decided to try deleting the ei.cfg file. my ISO didnt come with one, but I noticed others were including them so I made one and saved and added it, once I deleted this file and recreated the ISO, it is now working.
Hi one sugestion myself don't remove Internet Explorer UI because sometimes M$FT Office does not works correctly
Only Major updates like RS2 -> RS3 -> RS4 -> etc., has a greater chance of metro apps getting installed even if you have removed them prior to updating. So you're fine with just security updates ie., CU. So best way is to strip down the 1709 ISO and then install on your clients pc. If not, he either has to manually remove those apps or delay the major updates (like RS3, RS4....)
Thanks for the suggestion Tiger-1, but I do 99% of all my work on my Kubuntu 17.10 Linux OS, so for processing documents I use LibreOffice (which is cross platform and could actually be used on windows), the only time I use windows is when I am gaming, and I also have my windows install virtualized in a Qemu-kvm install with GPU PCI passthrough. (windows gaming, virtualized on linux, at practically native speeds.) So far I have only tested my blizzard games, such as diablo3, hearthstone, starcraft, etc. No issues to report yet, going to be testing more games over the next week or two.
Hi, could you explain what those do and are they really neded to ?, I never did those, seems that i have missed somethings 5,4,1 - disable cortana tweak 5,4,4 - enable DISM image cleanup with full resetbase
I can only help with 5.4.4, MSFT has the resetbase option disabled by default because it broke the resetpc option. The MSMG Toolkit option enables the /resetbase again so it can be run on the mounted wims.
Hey! I do not know if that question has already been asked, sorry if so. I used MSMG ToolKit v7.7, and Windows 10 1709 (final version) Took away everything, but not in advanced (only windows defender) I noticed that the KB4043961 update failed to install (at boot) I thought maybe it was another problem so i did a clean windows installation (with the same tweaked windows as before) and it became the same problem. Is anyone knowing exactly what I'm missing that causes KB4043961 to fail? Thanks
Hi yep if so no problem of course, still I also like very much Ubuntu and variants another time I PM for you to discuss about Windows virtualized looks very interesting ok thanks for the heads up
Hi MSMG, I would greatly appreciate it if you would set up an add-on for the WMC installer for Windows 10. I know it is best for build 1511 and lower, but I feel it is still of great value for me to have access to, and others would appreciate it I believe, as well. Thanks,
don't touch defender! 7.7 left some defender cabs, if you remove defender, will fail to install KB4043961...
